Anna Lou Anderson
It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of our beloved mother, Anna Lou Anderson of Rural Hall, NC, on March 29, 2026. She was born and lived most of her life in Huntington, WV. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, James “Jimmie” Anderson. Their love affair began at age 14, meeting at a Huntington skating rink, and that love would continue for 64 years. Mom was a true southern lady who made sure everyone always felt welcomed in their home and was always willing to share a cup of coffee and a slice of pie. Her love of family and close friends is a reminder of how precious time spent together truly is.

Anna Lou and Jimmie were often referred to as the “worker bees”, always the first to volunteer to help anyone in need. Their shared compassion, loyalty, and hard work made them the perfect team. Their legacy together will be cherished. She was such a good mom and proud of her children, John Anderson and his wife, Laura of Eugene, OR, and Andrea Seckman and her husband, Brent of King, NC. Being a grandmother brought her such joy, and she made wonderful memories with each of her grandchildren, Elizabeth Anderson Bass (Trever) of Cortes Island, BC, Tyler Anderson (Lauren) of Atlanta, GA, Hillary Smith (Joshua) of Franklin, TN, and Rachael Butts (Grant) of Rural Hall, NC. She loved that her family was growing with the addition of great-grandchildren- Jack and James Smith and Riley Bass. She came from ‘good people’ and was proud of her Appalachian mountain heritage. She taught her family the values that we still hold dear to our hearts- a true celebration of a life well lived.

We would like to thank the caregivers from the memory facilities who helped us look after our mother for the past few years. They are truly special, loving souls. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to a local memory or hospice facility. A memorial service will be planned for the future; may she rest in peace.

Charles Woodrow Fletcher, 85, of King, NC, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, March 21, 2026, at the SECU Hospice Care Center of Yadkin with his faithful wife of 65 years by his side.

Charles was born on February 11, 1941, to the late Woodrow Fletcher and Mary Ellen Hutchinson in Dry Fork, VA. He was married on April 2, 1960, to Loida Ramirez from Havana, Cuba, and had no idea of the beautiful whirlwind his life would become. He was preceded in death by his cherished son and namesake, Charles Christopher Fletcher, a special brother-in-law, James Creasy, and two nephews, Jimmy Creasy and Jose Pozo.

When Charles’s in-laws fled Cuba after Fidel Castro took control and implemented a communist regime, Charles opened up his home to them. In 1974, he moved his family to King, NC, and lived beside his sister-in-law and her family – the Creasy family. Living side by side, the Fletcher and Creasy families were, in every way that mattered, one family. The homes lovingly became known within the family as “the commune”, a testament to their closeness, love, and shared daily moments.

Shortly after settling in King, he and his family began attending Woodland Baptist Church where he accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as his personal Savior and he began to build a life centered on faith and family. During his later years, he attended Gospel Mission Baptist Church.

Charles was a talented electrician who spent his career in maintenance, lending his skills to various companies, including the Benton and Koury Convention Centers. He was a quiet man; attention was something he neither sought nor needed.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughter, Carmen Spainhour (Randall); a granddaughter, Hannah Spainhour; a grandson, Micah Spainhour (Maddie); and was expecting his first great-grandchild. Among those cherishing his memory are his sister-in-law, Hulda Creasy; his nieces, Janet Creasy Rose, Tammy Creasy Wiles (Tim), Judy Creasy Hall (Mitch), and his nephew, Christopher Creasy (Sandra), as well as a special cousin, Caroline Perry, along with several other cousins.

The family will receive friends and loved ones from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. on Friday, March 27, 2026, at Slate Funeral Home, King, NC. A graveside service will be held at Crestview Memorial Park, Rural Hall, NC, immediately following the visitation with Rev. Forrest Ritchey officiating.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to SECU Hospice Care Center of Yadkin in his memory.
