Today is National Funeral Directors Recognition Day. It isn't a holiday built on BBQ celebrations and family dinners, but a quieter moment. One that stands steady in quiet recognition of what we do much the same way we stand steady amidst the quiet weight of grief.
We see it.
We live it.
And we know what this work truly demands.
That alone is worth recognizing.

The "Funeral Arranger and Registered Transporter" bills STILL EXIST. So far, NYSFDA and NSFDA have not taken official positions regarding these proposed changes. Consider this a call to action to speak up with your honest opinions (and alternative recommendations if applicable). NYSFDA and NSFDA have both sent out surveys to membership, and every single NY licensed professional should fill them out.

Check your emails in past 2 weeks, get in touch with a colleague who can forward you the link(s), and participate.

Dear NSFDA Members,
Bill #10095, known as the proposed Licensed Funeral Arranger Act, was introduced in the New York State Legislature and brought forward for consideration on January 30, 2026. The bill is sponsored by Senator Paullin. On February 3rd, it has been referred to the Health Committee Senate for consideration.

Full Bill can be found here: https://www.nysenate.gov/legislation/bills/2025/S9112

We need your feedback! NSFDA at this time does not have an official position regarding the support or opposition of this proposed legislation. Our President sent out an email with more details regarding the bill, any important contact information, and a survey where you can let us know your opinions. NOW is the time to speak up.
