Last week in Hingham, folks! 🥲

You might notice the office looks a little bare - that is because I've been slowly moving things out and we are down to the essentials for doing the work - a couple of chairs and a massage table (also, plants). I have to say, taking down my pink curtains was the moment I felt a little overcome. I remember 3+ years ago putting them up after painting the room so carefully and cleaning everything from floor to ceiling. I wanted my first office to be exactly right, just the vibe.

Since then I've grown - I don't need everything to be perfect anymore. The vibe is important, but the main piece is the work itself, which, turns out can be done with just a couple of chairs and a table.

That said, I've been fussing about the new room too - it's different in many ways and requires different treatment. I promise to show you! I might even have a lil OPEN HOUSE so you can see for yourself (more on that soon).

Okay, back to work. see you this week IN HINGHAM!

BIG NEWS

You know how I've been hanging around at The Nourish Collaborative? Well, I've been having a really great time and it turns out we have a lot in common. One thing has led to another, and now I'm moving in! 🤩

I am beyond excited to join this collaborative for so many reasons, the main one being that it approaches healing from so many angles: they have bodywork, hypnosis, somatic therapy, infrared/red light therapy, and lots more. The classes they offer are my flavor too - nervous system reset, movement, yoga, breathwork... all the good stuff. I'll be doing more teaching, collaborating, and bringing some new ideas to life. If you know me, you know this is exactly what I want to be doing.

Sharing space with River & Stone Counseling and Wellness these last 3+ years has been precious and perfect: my little pink office's first home! But they're growing and I'm growing, and it's time to become neighbors instead of roommates. I know we will keep bumping into each other on the path.

This is a gem and a goodie for the healing inclined. Kelly is one of those rare people I've met that just gets it - what healing us, how much of it happens in the body, and how meeting our wounds with gentleness is the way through them.

In case you needed a reminder...

The ‘healing’ in TIST comes through the development of a healing relationship between the parts and client. That understanding and welcome of each part creates a new ending to past experiences of exploitation and abandonment.

These ideas emerged from a simple question posed by a supervisee in 2015: she asked, “What does it mean to heal? We talk about trauma healing, but what does that really mean?” That led me to thinking long and hard, “What does ‘healing’ mean?”

I knew it wasn’t the processing of event memories. Clients reported feeling relief and exhaustion or a sense of having made it, but they didn’t feel healed. Going on with their lives despite the trauma yielded rewards of all kinds but not a sense of being healed. After weeks of pondering, the answer came to me:

“Healing is the moment when we accept ourselves no matter what we’ve been through. . . It’s the moment we forgive ourselves, feel compassion for that young child, and even love ourselves. That is healing.”

The very thought inspired me: I felt drawn to create a treatment approach that could lead to that kind of healing, an approach that became TIST.

Healing Work - DEEP FREEZE EDITION!
Well it's definitely winter. This weekend Hingham got a couple feet of snow along with frigid temperatures!
In truth, I'm enjoying it just a little - I get to put my Canadian skillset (and mittens!) to good use.
