At the passing of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., the nation stood still. President Lyndon B. Johnson declared a National Day of Mourning; flags were lowered, and a solemn three mile procession escorted Dr. King to his final rest.
Yet, in keeping with his own wishes, the service bore no recitation of honors or accolades.
✅There was no catalog of achievements. Instead, there was a sermon.
✅There were hymns.
✅ There were sacred reflectionseach one bearing witness to a life wholly committed to service, justice, and love for humanity.
Today, as we honor the leader, we do so with gratitude for the enduring change his life inspired and the moral courage he modeled. Dr. King taught us that true greatness is measured not by recognition, but by service rendered to others.
Whether this day finds you in quiet reflection, engaged in acts of service, or deepening your understanding of our shared history, we hope this Martin Luther King, Jr. Day is marked with purpose, reverence, and renewed commitment to the work that still lies ahead.
