Proliance Hand, Wrist & Elbow Physicians was founded as Washington Hand Surgery in Bellevue in 1983 by Edward North, MD. Our name change reflects how our treatment focus now includes not only the hands, but wrists and elbows as well. With a shared dedication to hand surgery, our group of four board certified orthopedic surgeons specializes in problems involving the hand, wrist and forearm. Hand surgeons are specially trained to diagnose your hand condition and to recommend appropriate treatment options – often with no surgery required. Our physicians are also on the staff of both Evergreen and Overlake Hospital and
work closely with hand therapists in the rehabilitation of injuries. Prior to the opening of PHWE, patients on the Eastside who had complicated problems of the hands or upper extremities were sent to Seattle. There they were treated primarily by plastic surgeons with no specialized training in hand or elbow surgery. PHWE physicians are highly trained, board-certified specialists in hand, wrist and elbow surgery. And because we’re located on the Eastside, patients in the Bellevue, Issaquah, Bothell, Redmond and Kirkland areas can get the care they need much closer to home. PHWE has grown tremendously since 1983, yet our mission remains the same: to give our patients—from the Eastside and beyond—exceptional and compassionate care that returns them to good health as quickly as possible.
