NRP recert! The 9th edition is out. We hosted midwives and assistants at Puget Sound Birth Center for some hands on skills! We've been doing this for awhile now... (24 years) and we still learn new things!

15 years ago, we started a program to teach people how to support midwives at births. We traveled to many different states. We hauled a couple of suitcases worth of equipment through the airports to simulate a birth center and home birth settings.
10 years ago, we moved a portion of our training online. No, we don’t have to take quite as much equipment when we travel because there are so many fantastic birth centers and midwives out there who we can train alongside. We’ve trained more than 700 people! Some of whom are now midwives 🤍
Our mission remains the same. To serve professional midwives with knowledgeable and confident assistants. We are looking forward to all that 2026 has to offer!

Who else uses herbs routinely? Herbs have always played an important role in birth. We use these to prevent PPH… oh and a little peppermint to stimulate urination 😌

Sometimes we get the opportunity to work with our local EMS and teach them about natural birth in the field. This work is so important! Thankful for the great relationships in our community.

This isn’t the view we imagine when we’re at a birth. Sometimes things don’t go as we plan. Babies have their own story that we can not predict. Even when things deviate from normal and we need to call in our EMS system we remain calm & supportive. Moments like these (few and far between) are why we practice skills with our birth teams. So that we are prepared and practiced when the time comes. 🕯️
