Lake Washington Institute of Technology's Public Health Club The Public Health Club from Lake Washington Institute of Technology presents
a resource for public health education, awareness, and resources.

As a club we gather and discuss topics related to public health, as well as, create opportunities for our fellow students and community to promote their own health and wellness. We do so by increasing awareness and understanding, breaking down barriers, and provide opportunities for individuals to participate and support one another.

Wow! Last month, Public Health graduating senior Brianna received a Phoenix Humanitarian Award given out by the LWTech RISE Center for her demonstration of honesty, integrity, and responsibility and commitment to the welfare of the campus community.

Her nomination included the following text: "Brianna's lived experience and demonstrated commitment to the welfare of our community is what drove her to pursue a career in Public Health and to participate in the IDEAL Fellowship...Her commitment to the community and being part of solutions is inspiring to me."

We congratulate Brianna on receiving this distinguished award and wish her much success as she embarks on the next chapter of her life!

We had a fantastic day yesterday at the 2023 WSPHA Legislative Education day! A group of junior and senior LW Tech public health students, along with program director Dr. Gayle Shimokura had the opportunity to hear from leaders in Washington State public health about critical public health legislation and policy priorities. We then got to meet with legislators and legislative assistants in multiple districts to educate them on these vital public health issues. Thank you to Jeff Ketchel, President of WSPHA, and Dr. Shimokura for this educational opportunity! WSPHA: Washington State Public Health Association Washington State Department of Health
