I’m attending the Peptide conference for the next couple days. Never heard of a peptide? You probably actually have! Semaglutide (Ozempic/Wegovy) and tirzepatide (Mounjaro/Zepbound) are really famous peptides, and there are more. Some really useful ones have been restricted by the FDA, but I’m hoping to learn more about the ones that are still available.

For the past 3 years, I have had the pleasure of practicing at Kirkland Natural Medicine. However, 1/21/23 is my last day there. If you are looking for fantastic naturopathic care in Kirkland, I highly recommend Dr. Richter.
In March I begin a new chapter and will start seeing patients again at Health Moves in Woodinville. If you are an existing patient of mine or would like to be a patient, feel free to call 425.402.9999 to schedule an appointment.

Happy New Year!

I like this concept of “exercise snacks”. I try to move throughout the day, including little bursts of dancing, since that is the movement I’m drawn to.

What kind of exercise snack appeals to your taste?

Old requirements for at least 10-minute intervals may be out the door.

"Deaths due to coronavirus occurred most frequently in older age groups, but the greatest relative increase in death rates was not among those in their 60s, 70s, or 80s. In fact, the biggest relative increase in deaths happened in my age group — those between the ages of 25 and 44. This is because the death rates in this age group are pretty low at baseline. For years, the number-one cause of death in my age group was not cancer or heart disease but accidents, followed closely by drug overdoses and su***de."

F. Perry Wilson explains why more 25- to 44-year-olds are dying from COVID than from any other cause, shattering the myth of the COVID-invincible young adult.

Last weekend I got to do one of my favorite things to do, which is continued learning with the latest in Dr. Datis Kharrazian's seminars. The topic of this one was Chronic Fatigue and Pain Syndromes.
Fatigue and pain are some of the most commonly experienced symptoms, and because they are so common, it can be challenging to figure out the cause: nutrient deficiency, hormone imbalance, sedentary lifestyle, chronic viral infections, gut dysbiosis, brain injury, environmental toxicity, unexplained inflammation....

Here is an update on how well the current vaccines are holding up to the Delta variant.

(Spoiler alert: Moderna for the win! However, all of them are performing well.)

Roger Seheult, MD of MedCram explains new research on real world vaccine efficacy versus the delta coronavirus variant. The full video Dr. Seheult reference...

"What happens when previously infected individuals are vaccinated? The observations in several studies, including those by Stamatatos et al. and Reynolds et al., are that an impressive synergy occurs—a “hybrid vigor immunity” resulting from a combination of natural immunity and vaccine-generated immunity (see the figure). When natural immunity to SARS-CoV-2 is combined with vaccine-generated immunity, a larger-than-expected immune response arises."

COVID-19 vaccine responses provide insights into how the immune system perceives threats

I love Dr. Peter Attia's podcast The Drive. In this podcast, he and Katherine Eban discuss the origin of SARS-CoV-2 and a bunch of other topics I had questions about. I thought it would be of interest to others as well, and so here it is.

"Katherine Eban is an award-winning investigative journalist who previously appeared on The Drive to discuss the widespread fraud in the generic drug industry. In this episode, she discusses the content of her recent Vanity Fair article, which examined the evidence for the theory that the COVID-19 pandemic resulted from a virus lab escape as opposed to a natural virus that came from an animal host. Katherine and Peter walk through the evidence for both theories as well as discuss the long and troubling history of dangerous lab leaks and safety concerns about the Wuhan Institute of Virology. They also talk about the controversy surrounding gain-of-function research and its funding by the US government. Finally, they conclude with a discussion on the likelihood of definitively establishing the origins of the virus given the Chinese government’s lack of cooperation and highlight the fact that the many barriers to performing a full investigation may be the most troubling aspect of the controversy."

“There is no smoking gun per se. What there is is smoke coming out of a lot of windows. ... There is enough smoke coming out of enough windows that we cannot take the lab leak hypothesis off the table, and so for me, the most credible people on this, they're not saying it was a lab leak. What they...

I have heard a lot of people express concern about the Delta variant and whether the vaccines are going to continue providing protection, and this MedCram video does a good job of reviewing some of the evidence looking at this question.

I appreciate Dr. Seheult's perspective. He is a pulmonologist on the frontline in southern CA, so he has been treating COVID19 patients throughout the pandemic. He has also been discussing many we can improve our resilience through natural means, including nutrition, hydrotherapy, forest bathing, and more.

He concludes by saying that these days the only COVID19 patients he is seeing in the hospital are people who have not been vaccinated, so the vaccines continue to be very effective in reducing serious illness.

"Stuart C. Ray, MD, professor of medicine and oncology in the Division of Infectious Diseases at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine in Baltimore, Maryland, agreed. 'It seems compelling, even for skeptics, that unvaccinated people represent 99% of those now dying from COVID-19 when they represent less than 50% of the adult population in the USA.' "

Investigators looked at federal data for deaths from COVID-19 in May 2021 and determined how many were among unvaccinated Americans.
