Huge thanks to to the local farmers who showed up with tractors and disks to slow the progress of a very fast fire. Another huge thanks to Deloit FD, Schleswig FD, Denison FD, Vail FD, Westside FD, Manilla FD, Ricketts FD, Charter Oak FD, Dow City FD, Arthur FD, Odebolt FD, Breda FD, Arcadia FD, CCMH Ambulance, Crawford Co EMA and Crawford Co Sheriff Dept, Sac County Sheriff, and Crawford, Ida, Sac county comm centers. All of their members and family for supporting local volunteer firefighters. Thanks also to FAC and Crawford roads for help with water. If I missed anyone let me know so we can thank you properly too!

In less than 10 minutes the wind had pushed the fire almost 2 miles east. Without all the help to get in to all the nooks and crannies of the difficut to access Boyer area, fire containment would have been impossible.

Please be aware of the burn ban, open burning could bring criminal charges.

ATTENTION: Due to dry conditions and no precipitation in the foreseeable future, Crawford County will be in a burn ban starting Saturday, February 14th, 2026 at Noon until further notice. Burning will be prohibited.

Kiron Fire Department will be participating in City Wide Garage Sales June 8-10. We will begin accepting donated items on May 25. We will sell items for free will donation during the sale. Keep us in mind for your spring cleaning, and contact us beginning May 25 to coordinate getting your items to us. Thank you!
