Dear Families of Yakety Yak Speech-Language Pathologists,

The COVID-19 (novel coronavirus) outbreak is a rapidly changing situation. We value your family’s and our team’s health and safety. In an abundance of caution and a heavy heart, we have decided to temporarily close our outpatient clinic at this time and make the transition to provide Speech-Language therapy and Occupational therapy services remotely through teletherapy. We stopped providing in-person services at our offices on Monday, March 23rd, 2020 and will provide all services through teletherapy until at least April 15th, 2020. We will continue to monitor local and federal government recommendations.

What this means for our families:
Your therapists have been contacting you this week to discuss teletherapy, answer any questions you may have, and schedule appointments.

Our receptionists, referral coordinator, and authorization specialist are now working remotely and are able to answer calls to our office. Please feel free to contact us with any questions at our office phone number 407-201-8079.

Teletherapy has been researched and shown to be an effective way to provide many of our therapy services. In fact, parent engagement and certain aspects of development shows even greater results. Please give it a try if you are able!

Communicate with your child’s therapist any questions or concerns or call us at 407-201-8079.

We greatly appreciate your patience, flexibility, and understanding in these challenging times. Thank you for your partnership and support. We hope everyone stays safe and healthy.

Sincerely,

Jennifer Autenrieth, MA CCC-SLP
President

Families of Yakety Yak Speech-Language Pathologists,

We are closely monitoring the federal government and Center for Disease Control and Prevention’s updates and guidance regarding COVID-19 (Coronavirus) as it impacts the United States.

At this time, we are continuing business as usual while at the same time, preparing for any potential impacts to the therapy we provide to your children that may occur in the near future.

Our primary concern is the safety of our clients, their families, our employees, and contractors we may interact with. If you have had any contact with a person who has been recently diagnosed with Coronavirus or exposed to a potential confirmed case, please notify us immediately and we will determine appropriate next steps.

If your child cannot attend therapy for any pandemic-related reason (illness, quarantine, child-care, or others), please let us know and we will cancel your appointment. We are currently setting up a Teletherapy platform to provide therapy services online. Please contact our front desk, if you are interested in these services.

Everyone can help to prevent the spread of the virus (and all other contagious illnesses) by:

1. Avoiding close contact with people who are sick,
2. Washing hands frequently with soap and water,
3. Avoid touching your face,
4. Cover your mouth and nose with a tissue when you cough or sneeze (or into your elbow),
5. Stay home if you are sick. Common symptoms include fever, coughing and shortness of breath.

Please stay safe and healthy,

Jennifer Autenrieth, MA CCC-SLP
President

Celebrate Father's Day by reading this interesting article.

Mothers are often more involved than fathers in early language intervention for children with autism. But should that be the case? Studies show that Dads play a critical and unique role in supporting their child's communication development, and their involvement should always be encouraged.
