Klamath Tribal Health & Family Services is a division of the Klamath Tribes and is responsible for providing healthcare services to the Native American population who reside in Klamath County. Any person living in Klamath County who is able to provide proof of their Native American heritage is eligible to receive healthcare services at The Klamath Tribes Wellness Center. is an agency within the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services. It is responsible for providing federal health services to American Indians and Alaska Natives. The provision of health services to members of federally-recognized tribes grew out of the special government-to-government relationship between the federal government and Indian tribes. This relationship, established in 1787, is based on Article I, Section 8 of the Constitution, and has been given form and substance by numerous treaties, laws, Supreme Court decisions, and Executive Orders. The IHS is the principal federal health care provider and health advocate for Indian people. The mission of the Indian Health Service is to raise the physical, mental, social, and spiritual health of American Indians and Alaska Natives to the highest level. Under the provisions of Public Law 93-638, The Klamath Tribes contract with the Indian Health Service to administer individual programs and services the I.H.S. would otherwise provide (referred to as a Title I Self-Determination Contract).

November is Native American History Month!

Follow our Klamath Tribes Youth Council page for daily posts and highlight for the Month. Schools across the basin are participating in Spirit Week!
·
✨ Native Youth Spirit Week ✨

November is a time to honor Native American history, traditions, and the resilience of our people. Our ancestors carried strength, knowledge, and cultural teachings through generations, and today’s youth continue that legacy by learning, speaking up, and sharing culture with pride. Native American Heritage Month reminds us that our stories, languages, and lifeways are still here—and so are we.

This month is a celebration of identity, representation, and the beauty of our cultures in all their diversity. It’s a reminder to be proud of who you are, where you come from, and who you represent.

Spirit Week Themes

Nov. 10 – Rock Your Mocs
Wear moccasins or cultural footwear to show connection to tradition and community.

Nov. 11 – Native Jewelry
Beads, turquoise, shells, bone, silver—show the beauty and craftsmanship of your culture.

Nov. 12 – Traditional Attire
Ribbon skirts, shawls, vests, trade cloth, regalia-inspired clothing.

Nov. 13 – Native Hairstyles, Scarves & Barrettes
Braids, ribbons, beaded barrettes, traditional styles, or hair coverings.

Nov. 14 – Native Designs
Clothing featuring Indigenous patterns, art, or designs.

Youth across Mazama, Chiloquin, KU, and schools in Eugene and Portland will be participating—both at school and online. Photos and posts will be shared on the Youth Initiative social media pages to highlight culture, creativity, and representation throughout the week.

Be proud. Be visible. Be you.
Our ancestors paved the way—now our youth carry the future.
