Her nominations read: "Mandy’s selection as MMCer comes from not one, not two, but FOUR separate nominations. Here are some snippets from each:

• “Mandy is the glue for our department. She is the go-to for all questions related to the front-end scheduling and office-related functions. She quickly identifies any potential conflicts and works with the team to make accommodations or resolves the issue.”

• “There are so many examples of Mandy going above and beyond the call of duty. One example is I needed to send a report to Vanderbilt and was not clear about the process. I asked Mandy how to send it over and her response – ‘I will take care of this for you.’ This response is what the entire department gets from Mandy. No matter the issue, Mandy consistently offers a helping hand or a solution.”

Congratulations to Cary Chrisman, PharmD, for earning Preceptor of the Year from the University of Tennessee Health Science Center College of Pharmacy.

Cary's nomination reads: "Dr. Chrisman goes above and beyond as a teacher. He prepares topic reviews, finds relevant readings, and is always facilitating meaningful discussion. If you get stuck on a concept, he will prompt you from other directions until you get to the idea he was looking for. He will not always tell you the answer, he will have you look in the literature, so that you remember it forever. Additionally, he often reviews concepts later in the rotation to be sure they were solidified and clarifies when needed. Cary is kind, patient, and genuinely cares about student learning. He seems to know everything, but also NEVER assumes he does. He is humble and always looks for ways to better himself. He is an exemplary pharmacist, and I believe every student would benefit from his mentorship during rotation."

We appreciate you, Cary, for all the ways you support your patients and teammates here at Methodist - and to all those you mentor in your profession. Congratulations on this well-deserved honor!

By linking established caregivers with students interested in healthcare, Methodist Medical Center plays an important role in Oak Ridge High School’s Health Science Academy. Going strong since 2006, this partnership prepares interested ORHS students for future training in healthcare careers. Our thanks to the Fall/Winter 2025 class of students with ORHS's Health Sciences Academy for their participation and enthusiasm in this important program. We hope through this experience many will return to make Methodist the place where they build their future careers.
