Today our team proudly wore blue in recognition of Wear Blue Day for Colon Cancer Awareness.

At Methodist, we stand with survivors, families, and healthcare professionals working to prevent and fight colon cancer. This is a cancer that is highly preventable and often curable when detected early through routine screenings. We’re grateful for the team members from MMC and from our Covenant Medical Group physician practices who joined in today to help raise awareness and start important conversations. A simple screening can save lives.

It was our privilege last week to co-host this year's Leadership Oak Ridge class and provide education about Methodist. The day included a variety of speakers from across the community as well as a tour of MMC's Hospitality Houses which offer free lodging for patients who must travel long distances for care. Congrats to John Bragg from our Radiation Oncology department for his observation of a new development in a patient’s status during a routine treatment. His actions helped discover a new and significant issue which required immediate attention. The patient and spouse were incredibly grateful to John’s keen observation and quick action. One of the most rewarding employee presentations we get to do is for our annual MMCer of the Year. We had a whole year's worth of excellent candidates up for popular vote among all employees, but only one can be selected for this award. EXCEPT, for the first time in our MMCer of the Year history, we had a tie for this prestigious honor!

We are incredibly proud to recognize Audrey Burge with our Nursing Education team and Andrew Rathman with our Transport team as dual MMCers of the Year for 2025. Congratulations to you both from your hospital-wide MMC family!!!
