Last Friday, after an incredible 42 years of dedication, hard work, and behind-the-scenes excellence, we celebrated the retirement of Richard Brown from our Engineering Department.

Richard’s commitment has quite literally helped keep our hospital running—ensuring safe, reliable environments for patients, families, and staff every single day. His knowledge, steady presence, and willingness to go the extra mile have made a lasting impact that will be felt for years to come.

While we’ll miss seeing him around the halls, we’re excited for him as he begins this well-earned next chapter.

Today during Volunteer Appreciation Week, we were able to celebrate our amazing Volunteer team with a star-studded VIP (Volunteers Inspire Purpose) event which honored their acts of service to Methodist in 2025.

Last year, like every year, our hospital volunteers truly made a difference! With 91 active volunteers, four dedicated junior volunteers, five amazing HABIT fur baby volunteers, this incredible group contributed over 25,000 service hours to support our patients, families, and staff.

We’re also proud to celebrate four of our adult volunteers who took their passion even further by transitioning into employee roles across various hospital departments. What an inspiring journey!

During the event we recognized special service milestones including Mark Hill with 11,000 hours, Anna McCray with 11,500 hours, Betty Eason with 13,800 hours and Elizabeth Lyons with 15,000 hours of service!

Thank you to each and every volunteer for your compassion, commitment, and the positive impact you bring to our hospital community every single day.
