The Risks of Sleeping in Contact lens include:

1. Oxygen Deprivation: Your cornea needs oxygen, and contact lenses reduce the amount that reaches your eyes. Sleeping in them further cuts off oxygen, which can damage your eyes over time.

2. Increased Risk of Infection: Sleeping in contacts increases your risk of eye infections by 6–8 times.

3. Dryness and Discomfort: Lenses trap less moisture while you sleep, leading to dry, irritated, or even stuck lenses in the morning.

4. Corneal Neovascularization: A long-term effect where new blood vessels grow into your cornea due to lack of oxygen, which can cause vision issues.

5. Red or Puffy Eyes: Waking up with red, sore, or swollen eyes is common when sleeping in contacts.

In Honor of National Disability Independence Day we would like to highlight our incredible Low Vision Patients. It is so exciting to see patients gain independence through bioptic devices!

"Dr. Gilliland has been my eye care professional since 1998 for good reason! Both he and the professional staff at EyeXcel are second to none! My experience on my recent visit exemplified my previous assertion. Because they keep abreast of the latest developments with Bioptic devices, I have realized a significant improvement in visual acuity which has been nothing short of miraculous in my life! I will never lose sight of this (no pun intended). My new OcuTech Falcon autofocus bioptic device is incredible, and is already making a monumental difference. Dr. Gilliland assiduously fine tuned the device to perfection!! Five Stars Plus for this group!!!!!" -Terry
