Knitting and crocheting are no longer considered just a "granny hobby." In fact, it's one of the fastest growing skills once again, and we thought we'd share some information on how fiber arts can help seniors:
Knitting and crocheting offer numerous benefits for seniors, both mentally and physically. These crafts help maintain fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination, which can slow the progression of arthritis and other age-related conditions. Mentally, the repetitive motions promote relaxation, reduce stress, and may even help lower the risk of cognitive decline by keeping the brain engaged. Additionally, knitting and crocheting provide a sense of accomplishment and purpose, especially when projects are made for loved ones or charity. Socially, they can foster community and connection through group activities or clubs, reducing feelings of isolation.
