๐ Employee of the Month Spotlight: Penny Tussing, MSPT, AT, ATC, RRT๐
Penny has worked for UP Rehab for the past ten years and is currently part of the Physical Therapy team at BCMH. Penny attended Grand Valley State University where she received her Bachelor of Science degree in Health Sciences, minor in Chemistry with emphasis in Sports Medicine (1987) and her Physical Therapy Masterโs degree (1996). She has been a certified Athletic Trainer since 1988 and received a degree in Respiratory Therapy from Muskegon Community College. Her clinical practice has focused on the general orthopedic population, cancer rehab, chronic pain, bariatric rehab, manual therapy and treatment and evaluation of running athletes.
A native of the Copper Country, Penny graduated from Chassell High School. While running the two-mile race at the Marquette UP Finals, Penny fractured her left tibia which led to her passion of pursuing her degree in Physical Therapy and Athletic training. Penny states โI wanted to come back to Upper Michigan and help the community who helped shape the person I am today.โ
Penny is known for going above and beyond for her team and her patients. She has covered the last few holidays, showing exceptional dedication and reliability. She has also demonstrated strong initiative in community involvement by reaching out to local schools to provide running assessments and instruction, as well as organizing classes for the Sassy Seniors program. Several patients and community members have expressed how valuable her care has been, frequently sharing positive feedback with our team.
In her free time, Penny enjoys running, mountain biking, ice hockey, weight training. and caring for her beloved Pug.
