Francis High School's Sports Medicine Program strives to promote excellence in healthcare for athletics. Headed by Certified Athletic Trainer, Eli Hallak ATC, EMT, the program has evolved into a multifaceted entity within the science and athletic departments. The "Introductory Kinesiology and Rehabilitation" Sports Medicine Course was created in 1999. It later became the 1st UC approved lab science course, in the field of Sports Medicine, in California. The program has allowed students insight into the field of sports medicine/athletic training along with many others careers in the healthcare industry
Students are the main focus of the program. Whether SFHS students are being treated in our state of the art Sports Medicine Complex, working at interscholastic games as a rookie athletic training students, assisting as a Senior or Head Athletic Training Student for a specific team their senior year, promoting the health and safety of all the Golden Knights and anyone visiting the SFHS campus is our primary focus. As a primary clinical site for California State University Northridge's Athletic Training Education Program (ATEP), several CSUN student interns assist the medical staff at SFHS on an annual basis. Along side our team physician Robert Gazmarian MD, and our team physical therapist Eric Landswick PT, ATC; these student interns assist Mr. Hallak in the health and safety of our student athletes on a daily basis. In 2002, the Sports Medicine Club implemented a new program, the Annual High School Sports Medicine Competition, hosted by St. This annual event has brought students from across California together to test their knowledge in the specialized field of Sports Medicine/Athletic Training. This day has created some wonderful friendships between students and programs across the state. If you have any questions or comments please feel free to e-mail us at: ehallak@sfhs.net
