🥂✨ What a wonderful way to welcome 2026! Our residents at La Conner Retirement Inn were recently featured in the La Conner Community News as they rang in the New Year with toasts, laughter, and cherished memories from holidays past.

From childhood dolls and Rose Bowl adventures to honeymoons in Aspen and family celebrations across generations, their reflections remind us all to “appreciate everybody and everything.”

Talk about a soaring success! Bertha, Deanna, Elaine, Carol, and Maxine headed out with our driver, Cricket, for a day of eagle watching and spotted a record-breaking 64 eagles! The group was thrilled, and we’re all still amazed by their count.

After a weather delay in December, the Skagit Valley Chorale returned this week for their “Winter With You” concert—and it did not disappoint! Residents loved every note and were especially proud to cheer for one of our own, Tim, performing with the group!

We had a fascinating visit from Destry, one of our team member’s sons, and his fiancée, Allison! They led a great chat about the world of wildland firefighting—sharing stories from the frontlines and insights into the challenges and rewards of the job.

Our residents had lots of thoughtful questions and took the time to express their appreciation for these everyday heroes who help keep our communities safe. What a heartfelt and eye-opening afternoon!

Our team spotlight shines on Mary! Mary was born in Arlington, and has spent her entire life in WA. She has always enjoyed cooking, and her family has been blessed by her skills in the kitchen. Her favorites to bake and decorate are cookies and cakes, and she gets no complaints here at The Inn. When she and Matthew met, they knew immediately they were meant to be and eloped to the sand dunes of Moses Lake; they also enjoy off-roading in the mud there. Mary loves painting, drawing, and tattooing, and hopes to go to Scotland or Italy one day.

Our resident spotlight shines on Teresa! Teresa was born, raised, and graduated in Rolla, North Dakota. She was the oldest of 12 siblings. She moved to Washington at the age of 19. She then married Harold, the love of her life. They were married for 47 years. They raised 2 girls and 2 boys. Together, they built a cabin in the Stillaguamish Country Club. She has always loved square dancing, bowling, and spending time with family at the cabin. Welcome to the La Conner family. We are so happy you are here!
