You sit down to relax…
and suddenly you feel everything.
Your heartbeat.
Your breathing.
How tense your body actually is.
Like the second you slow down… your body gets louder.
And it’s confusing.
Because you weren’t trying to feel more.
You were trying to calm down.
A lot of people assume this means they’re doing something wrong.
Like you should be able to just relax… and have it work.
But if your body doesn’t actually feel safe slowing down yet…
of course it’s going to start scanning.
Noticing everything.
Bringing your attention to all the places you’ve been holding.
That’s not failure.
That’s your nervous system doing its job.
It just hasn’t learned that it’s safe to be still yet.
And this is where the work actually is.
Not forcing yourself to relax…
but helping your body feel safe enough to.
This is something we move through inside my somatic coaching.
Learning how to meet your body where it’s at
so slowing down doesn’t feel overwhelming… it feels supportive.
If this is something you’ve experienced, you’re not alone 🤍
