You sit down to relax…
and suddenly you feel everything.

Your heartbeat.
Your breathing.
How tense your body actually is.

Like the second you slow down… your body gets louder.

And it’s confusing.

Because you weren’t trying to feel more.
You were trying to calm down.

A lot of people assume this means they’re doing something wrong.

Like you should be able to just relax… and have it work.

But if your body doesn’t actually feel safe slowing down yet…
of course it’s going to start scanning.

Noticing everything.
Bringing your attention to all the places you’ve been holding.

That’s not failure.
That’s your nervous system doing its job.

It just hasn’t learned that it’s safe to be still yet.

And this is where the work actually is.

Not forcing yourself to relax…
but helping your body feel safe enough to.

This is something we move through inside my somatic coaching.

Learning how to meet your body where it’s at
so slowing down doesn’t feel overwhelming… it feels supportive.

If this is something you’ve experienced, you’re not alone 🤍

Spring Clothing Swap

Friday, March 20th | 3:00–6:00 PM

Refresh your wardrobe, clear your closet, and raise your vibe.

Join us for a spring clothing swap…an easy, fun way to declutter what you no longer wear and discover new-to-you pieces without spending a dime.

How it works:
• Bring 10–20 gently used clothing items you’re ready to release
• Items can be from winter, spring, summer, or fall
• Drop off your items when you arrive, then shop the swap at your own pace
• Feel free to bring your own tote bags to carry your finds
• A mirror will be available so you can check the fit and the vibe
This is all about mindful fashion…minimizing, reusing, and giving your closet a fresh start for spring
🌱
At the end of the event, all unclaimed items will be donated to charity, so nothing goes to waste.

You close your laptop. You sit down. Maybe you tell yourself you’re finally going to relax for a bit.

And instead of feeling relief, you feel restless.

Your mind starts scanning for the next thing you should be doing. You think about the email you forgot to send. The message you still need to respond to. The task you could get ahead on for tomorrow.

Sometimes it’s subtle. Sometimes it’s a quiet tension in your chest or shoulders. Sometimes it’s a feeling that you should probably get back up and do something.

So you do.

You open your laptop again. You check your phone. You add one more thing to the list.

A lot of high-capacity women experience this and assume it’s just a discipline issue. Or that they’re bad at resting.

But more often than not, it’s a nervous system pattern.

If your body learned somewhere along the way that staying productive keeps things safe, then slowing down can actually feel uncomfortable at first. Your system starts scanning for what might go wrong if you stop moving.

That doesn’t mean anything is wrong with you.

It usually just means your nervous system hasn’t learned yet that it’s safe to pause.

This is the kind of pattern we start to unpack in somatic work. Not by forcing yourself to rest harder, but by helping your body slowly experience that slowing down doesn’t mean losing control, falling behind, or letting everything collapse.

Once that shift starts to happen, rest stops feeling so threatening… and actually becomes restorative.

If this experience feels familiar, you’re definitely not the only one.
