"A Life lived in service to others is a life that echoes forever"
After 22 years of dedicated service at Locust Grove Village, Charlotte Rathke is retiring. Throughout her career in senior care, Charlotte helped transform the traditional concept of a “nursing home” into a true home — a place where residents thrive with dignity, purpose, and compassion.
She championed person-centered care, believing that quality of life is just as important as quality clinical excellence. Under her leadership, the focus shifted from rigid routines to honoring each resident’s unique preferences and voice. Residents were treated as family, and staff were empowered to lead with heart.
Charlotte’s service extended beyond Locust Grove Village through her work with LeadingAge, where she contributed to strategic planning and strengthened the profession as a whole. Her leadership has left a lasting impact on Rush County and the many lives she touched.
We are forever grateful for her commitment and service to this community. She will be deeply missed.
Friends, colleagues, and community members are invited to a come-and-go reception at Locust Grove Village, 701 W. 6th, La Crosse, on Friday, March 13, from 2–4 p.m., to help wish Charlotte well on her new adventure.
