Hello, wonderful clients! I'm so sorry to have to be temporarily closed at this time, but as long as La Crosse County is at severe risk of CoVid-19 spread, I truly don't feel it's safe to be giving massages right now. The guidelines from the La Crosse County Health Department say that I should only have minimal operations for safe reopening (at a less risky time). I will miss seeing you but as always, your health is my first priority. Take care!

We've developed this Coulee COVID-19 Compass to guide our community to make the right decisions with COVID-19 in mind. You can see our risk status, the recommendations you should follow, and all of the data used to impact the dial on this COVID-19 Compass.

This week, we remain at a SEVERE RISK for the spread of COVID-19.

What's new from last week?
Epidemiology: Remains red due to the number of new cases we've had and the increase of the percentage of positive tests
Healthcare Status: has not changed this week.
Public Health Status: Remains red. Cases and contacts are not reachable by public health within 24 - 48 hours, and are not transferred to public health within 24 hours.

We will share this snapshot every week on Wednesday.

See our new recommendations for our community as we move into the SEVERE category:

Hello to all my wonderful friends and clients! I've missed seeing you all very much! I want to announce that I'm going to slowly resume seeing clients beginning in early June. I am taking every precaution I can to ensure that your health and safety are my first priority.

Here is what I am doing to protect my clients and myself:

Before and after each massage session, I clean and sanitize all surfaces that may be touched, including door handles, light switches, etc.

I am strictly following a hand washing protocol before and after each session and after touching any sheets, bottles, or any other objects that may have possible contamination, after disinfecting those items.

I have added a HEPA filter for enhanced air purity and circulation to reduce virus particles in the air.

I will be wearing a mask at all times. At this time, I will require you to wear a mask during the massage as well. You will not need to wear the mask while you are facedown; I have an alternate method of containment for that circumstance. Prolonged close contact, such as during a massage, carries increased risk of virus transmission, and the CDC declares that if both parties wear a mask under these circumstances the risk of virus transmission is greatly reduced.

I have updated my intake forms with CoVid-19 screening questions, so I will require everyone to update their intake form prior to receiving a massage again.

It is VERY IMPORTANT that you cancel your massage if you feel any symptoms of illness; if you have tested positive for coronavirus, EVEN IF YOU ARE ASYMPTOMATIC, or have been exposed to anyone with coronovirus in the last 14 days, you will be required to reschedule your massage. There will be no charge for even a same-day cancellation of your appointment.

I have a no-contact thermometer that I will be using to check temperatures in the enclosed entryway to my business; you have a temperature greater than 100.4, you will be required to reschedule your massage. This is also where I will supply a mask, if you have not brought your own.

I am not allowing clients to wait in the lobby at this time; please wait in your car until I call or text you to enter the building for your massage.

I have hand sanitizer for your use by the doorway and in the treatment room; please use when you enter and leave the building, and after you sneeze, if you cannot wash your hands directly.

I will be increasing the time between massage sessions to 30 minutes, to accomodate the extra time needed for sanitization.

I am very much looking forward to seeing you again! I hope you and your family have stayed healthy, and I am so happy that I have the chance to improve your health again through the benefits of massage!

See you soon!
Shannon Hanson

Due to the Safer-at-home order issued by Governer Evers, I will be remaining temporarily closed through the end of April. I will be closely following the CDC and my massage organizations and will resume massaging as soon as it's safe to do so!
I miss you all dearly and can't wait to see you again! I hope that you and your families are all staying well!

Hanson Healing is temporarily closed through at least March 31st, at which time I will re-evaluate.

This was a very hard decision to make, but I feel it is the most ethical and socially responsible choice. I have been closely following the CDC and massage industry leaders, who have very strongly recommended that temporary closure is crucial to help stop the spread of coronavirus. If you were on my schedule, I will be contacting you personally.

I will miss seeing you, but I'm hoping that you all stay healthy during this unsettling time! Take care, and know that I'm thinking of you all!

I never thought this day would arrive. But the day has come that, as in popular music, as in fast food—we have arrived at the point where we understand that the most popular massage is not the best…

Carrying a bag on the shoulder (even if it is empty) requires constant isometric contraction of the elevators of the shoulder girdle, such as the upper trapezius, levator scapulae, and rhomboids.
Use, leading to overuse, leading to misuse, leading to abuse...
A bag carried cross-shoulder does not require the scapular elevators to have to overwork.
