It's Sleep Awareness Week! This unique awareness event emphasizes the importance of getting adequate sleep to promote health and overall well-being.

Experts suggest most adults need 7-9 hours of sleep every night. A variety of factors including environment, exercise, nutrition, and technology use can affect the quality of one's sleep. Getting enough rest helps repair the body, manage stress, and support the immune system.

This week, Aveanna recognizes Patient Safety Awareness Week, a time to encourage and raise awareness about health care safety.

While there has been much progress in improving patient safety, there is still work to be done. This year's theme for Patient Safety Awareness Week is "Team Up for Patient Safety," which encourages collaboration between care teams, patients, and families. Whatever your role is in caregiving and health care, we all have a part to play in promoting safety and safeguarding health.

When Dr. Bobby faced medical challenges of his own, he knew exactly who to call. After his wife, Becky, experienced successful knee replacement surgery recovery with her Aveanna Home Health team, Dr. Bobby knew he wanted the same exceptional care.

Over the years, Aveanna has supported Dr. Bobby through a range of health challenges including blood clots, COVID, and even a broken arm. Most recently, with the help of the Aveanna team, he has regained function, strength, and mobility, working alongside caregivers he now considers family.

“Aveanna Home Health has truly become an extension of our support system,” said Dr. Bobby. “There is familiarity, comfort, and genuine connection between us. We are so thankful for our therapists Jessica and Ashley.”

With their support, Dr. Bobby has gained more than physical independence — he’s gained advocates who walk alongside him throughout his health journey.

“Home health for me is having someone else advocate for you,” said Dr. Bobby. “It’s so reassuring to know someone is monitoring your progress, communicating concerns, and ensuring our needs are addressed during complicated health situations. Aveanna has made all the difference.”

We are honored to serve families like Bobby and Becky’s, helping them stay independent, supported, and right where they want to be: at home.

March is Trisomy Awareness Month!

Trisomy is a genetic condition where a person is born with an extra chromosome instead of the usual pair. The number that follows indicates which chromosome pair has the third copy. While Trisomy occurs spontaneously, the risk of having a child with a Trisomy condition increases after a women reaches 35 years old.

Throughout this month, Aveanna is honored to recognize the beautifully unique qualities of those we care for with Trisomy conditions. This month and every month, we celebrate you and the gifts you bring to our world.

Aveanna is proud to recognize nurse Tina as she achieves 18 years with the company!

Tina has been with her current patient, Kennedy, for 9 years. Together, they have navigated new adventures, challenges, and milestones from the first day of kindergarten all the way through Kennedy's start of middle school. Tina's devotion to Kennedy combined with her knowledge and passion has made her a strong advocate in her care.

"Nurse Tina is so special to us, and I know she is especially dear to Kennedy,' said Kennedy's mom. "Our lives wouldn't be the same without her!"

Tina, we are so proud of your devotion and are honored to recognize this amazing accomplishment. Thank you for all you do for patients like Kennedy!

Aveanna patient Norah lives with Trisomy 9 mosaicism, an ultra-rare condition affecting about 300 people worldwide.

Norah’s mom, Lori, knew the complexities of her condition would require specialized attention. Three years ago, Aveanna nurse Mary began caring for Norah, and Lori believes there is no better fit for her daughter and the unique challenges she faces.

“Mary has been so important for Norah and her interaction with the world,” said Lori. “Mary is by her side wherever we go, and Norah can see and experience so much because of that. She truly enables Norah to participate in adventures we could not do otherwise, and her support and kindness allows me to care for my other children’s needs and know Norah is okay.”

Mary’s care has done more than support Norah’s wellbeing; it’s filled her own cup, too. With special needs children of her own, Mary feels as though caring for Norah is like helping her own child.

“To get to be on Norah’s team and share in her life is very special for me,” said Mary. “I love getting to see the difference my care has made with the rarity of her condition. It brings me so much joy to partner with her family on their unique journey.”

This Rare Disease Day, we honor the individuality of those living with rare diseases and the dedicated caregivers who walk beside them. We are honored to be part of your journey!

Tomorrow is Rare Disease Day, and Aveanna is proud to spotlight and support our patients who live with rare diseases.

Eight-year-old Axel lives with Metachromatic Leukodystrophy (MLD), a rare genetic disorder that affects the nervous system. Since he was diagnosed with MLD in 2020, Axel has become fully dependent on his family and nursing team for care. For his mom, Lexi, joining Aveanna meant finding the specialized care her son needed after years of visiting specialists and balancing the responsibilities of her family.

"Aveanna’s team has been absolutely amazing for Axel," said Lexi. "I cried when they had a nurse ready to start with us on Christmas Eve because I finally felt like we found the missing pieces of our village to help fully support Axel’s needs."

Lexi feels as though a boulder has been lifted off her shoulders with the help of her Aveanna team. With Nurse Crystal able to monitor his breathing, medication, supply orders, and functioning, Lexi can rest assured that Axel is safe while she raises her other child and tends to her own needs.

"Having nurses in our home, part of our family, supporting Axel like I do means I don’t have to be 'nurse' anymore, I can just be 'Mom,'" said Lexi. "That is all I have ever wanted, and now it is a reality for us. We couldn't be more grateful."

This Rare Disease Day and every other day, we celebrate the unique journey of our Aveanna patients living with rare diseases. Thank you for opening your hearts and homes to our care.

Before Kenny began services with his Aveanna team in 2019, he faced numerous challenges with feeding and congenital conditions. His family sought a team who would stand beside them with skill, compassion, and relentless commitment.

That is exactly what they found with Aveanna nurse Della. Through the years, she has provided steady, hands-on clinical care, giving Kenny’s family reassurance and stability.

Now, Kenny is attending school, engaging in his learning environment, and communicating using his speaking device. He is no longer just overcoming challenges — he is discovering his voice and his independence in the world.

Kenny’s mom said, “When you are raising a medically complex child, you are placing your deepest fears and your greatest trust into the hands of others. The steadiness and peace of mind that nurse Della and our Aveanna team have provided in moments of stress and uncertainty is something that cannot be measured. We are profoundly grateful for the humanity we have experienced with Aveanna Healthcare.”

We are honored to show our support for patients like Kenny and his family. Thank you to our dedicated caregivers like nurse Della who unlock our patients' potential and empower families. We are so grateful for you!
