Omega-3 fatty acids are a great way of supporting heart health and can be found in many WIC-approved foods! You can find them in:

🐟Canned fish like salmon and tuna
🍳Eggs and soy products like tofu
🥑Brussels sprouts and avocados

Omega-3 fats have also been shown to be important during pregnancy, as they are important building blocks of the fetal brain and retina. These foods can help reduce inflammation, lower blood pressure, and support eye health! 💕

Talk to your local WIC staff to learn more about nutrition and how WIC can support your family. Visit www.signupwic.com for more information.

🪲 Seasonal Tick Reminder: Stay Protected This Season! 🌿

Tick activity is on the rise as temps warm up and they don’t just affect people, pets are at risk too. If you're spending time outdoors, a few simple steps can go a long way in keeping everyone safe:

• Stick to trails and avoid tall grass
• Use insect repellent
• Check for ticks after being outside
• Keep pets protected too

🐜 Found a tick? Remove it promptly, clean the area, and watch for symptoms like rash, fever, or fatigue

☀️ Union County may be heading into a warmer, drier season

This year’s lighter snowpack and lower rainfall can lead to drier conditions over time. That can put pressure on water supplies and increase wildfire risk.

We’re sharing this now to help everyone stay aware as conditions change.

🌡️ If it becomes drier
• Use water wisely at home and outdoors
• Stay aware of fire risk and local restrictions
• Watch air quality, especially during smoky conditions
• Keep outdoor areas clear of dry vegetation when possible

Cognitive, emotional, and social changes are just a few of the challenges those with TBI face, and many of these are invisible to the eye. While this month has allowed us to raise awareness, the work doesn’t stop here. Every person impacted by TBI deserves continued support, understanding, and access to resources. Visit biausa.org to learn more about TBI.

If you or someone you know is diagnosed with TBI, visit https://www.chdinc.org/developmental-disabilities or call 541-962-8858 to learn about how we can support you.

This , we honor the strength, creativity, and leadership of women everywhere, especially the moms we’re proud to serve every day and the women working in healthcare or WIC clinics who take care of families across the country.

At WIC, we’re proud to support women during some of the most important moments of their lives, whether you’re pregnant, breastfeeding, or caring for your family. Your strength and dedication inspire us every day. 💕

This March, let’s celebrate women across the country who are supporting families in their parenting journey or are caring for little ones of their own—and those who are juggling both! We’ve got your back and see you shining, today and every day! ✨

🌫️ You may start seeing smoke in Union County as we move into spring

Some of this smoke may be from planned prescribed burns, used to reduce wildfire risk and help protect our home 🌲 These burns are carefully managed and short term, helping prevent larger wildfires that create heavier, longer lasting smoke.

As we head into warmer and drier months, we’re sharing this now so you know what to expect and how to stay prepared.

🛡️ If it becomes smoky
• Keep windows and doors closed 🪟
• Limit time outdoors 😷
• Avoid heavy activity outside
• Keep indoor air as clean as possible 🏠

📲 Check air quality anytime at AirNow.gov

Cerebral palsy can impact many parts of daily life—from eating and dressing to writing and playing.

For many individuals, these challenges are part of everyday routines, but with the right support, resources, and community, people with CP continue to thrive in their own ways.

This Cerebral Palsy Awareness Month, we’re helping spread understanding and support for individuals and families in our community. 💚

If you or someone you know has been diagnosed with CP, visit https://www.chdinc.org/developmental-disabilities or call 541-962-8858 to learn how we can support you.
