Too many families fall into what I call the “acute care hole.” This happens when you have an urgent medical need that doesn’t require the ER but also won’t be addressed quickly by your primary care clinic. Too often the options are: “go to the ER,” wait weeks for an appointment, or see a provider you’ve never met.

As a board-certified Emergency Physician, I know what truly requires hospital care and what can be safely managed at home. For example, asymptomatic high blood pressure isn’t an emergency—yet most clinics will still send you to the ER for this.

My new concierge acute care practice is designed to fill this gap. I’ll be available to you and your family 24/7, helping you get the right care, at the right time, in the setting you prefer.

Hello friends and neighbors,

I’m Dr. Thomas (TC) Ence, a board-certified Emergency Physician here in San Diego. After years in the ER caring for everything from sprained ankles to heart attacks, I’m excited to launch something new—bringing expert, timely medical care right into the community.

This page is where I’ll share:
• Practical health tips (CPR, wound care, family safety)
• Insights from emergency medicine in plain language
• Updates on my new concierge acute care practice—designed to make medical care more personal, accessible, and closer to home

I’m a husband and father of three. I also love surfing and trying to grow fruit trees (I have 36+ fruit trees in our small yard). You may see some of that side of life here as well.

Thank you for following along. Please share this page with anyone who might find it helpful.
