Red Flags to Watch For

Possible signs a child might be at risk of trafficking:

• Sudden shifts in behavior
• New expensive items with no explanation
• Increased secrecy, especially online
• Older partners or friendships
• Running away
• Signs of fear, control, or isolation

Child trafficking isn’t always what you see in movies.
It often happens through manipulation, coercion, or online grooming—sometimes by someone the child knows or trusts.

Trafficking = exploitation.
It does not always involve kidnapping or transporting someone across state lines.

With new devices and extra screen time, holidays are a good time to talk about online safety:

Keep devices in shared family spaces when possible.

Know which apps and games your child is using.

Remind kids: Never share their full name, address, or school online.
Open conversations now can help prevent unsafe situations later.

This season, let’s teach body boundaries:

Ask: “Would you like to give a hug, a high-five, or just wave?”

Respect their answer—yes or no.
