We are the largest provider of children mental health in Southern Maryland.

Since 1989, the Center for Children has been dedicated to the prevention and treatment of child abuse and promote positive health through crisis intervention and therapy.

Red Flags to Watch For

Possible signs a child might be at risk of trafficking:

• Sudden shifts in behavior
• New expensive items with no explanation
• Increased secrecy, especially online
• Older partners or friendships
• Running away
• Signs of fear, control, or isolation

It often happens through manipulation, coercion, or online grooming—sometimes by someone the child knows or trusts.

Trafficking = exploitation.
It does not always involve kidnapping or transporting someone across state lines.
