What is the Stellest Lens?
If your child has been diagnosed with nearsightedness (myopia) and their prescription keeps getting stronger, you’re not alone…and there’s now an exciting option that may help.
The Stellest lens (by Essilor) is a newer FDA-authorized lens designed to help slow down the progression of myopia in kids.
At A Child’s Eyes, we are trained in fitting Stellest lenses and love helping families understand their options. If your child is between the ages of 6–12 and is nearsighted, this lens may be something worth talking to your eye doctor about.
So how does it work?
You may notice small rings in the lens (you can see them in the photo). Those rings are part of the special design that helps send a message from the brain to the eye like:
“Hey… slow down growing!”
Because when the eye grows too long, kids tend to become more and more nearsighted over time.
Why does that matter?
The more myopia increases, the higher the risk of future eye health problems later in life, including serious concerns like retinal issues that can lead to vision loss
One important thing to know
Stellest isn’t a “magic fix,” but it can be a powerful part of a myopia management plan when worn consistently, fit well, and monitored by your child’s eye doctor.
We’d love to work alongside your doctor and help you decide if Stellest is the right fit for your child.
