October 15th starts Medicare Open Enrollment! We will not be accepting all plans, so ask us if your plan is covered before deciding. We could not get accepted in Humana for 2026. We know for sure we will be accepting Peoples Health. We are happy to discuss your options with us, including our discount plan for cash payments on low cost generics. Not quite Flu Shot time. Even though we do see cases start earlier and throughout the year, the peak for Flu activity in the past years is still December through March. It does take about 2 weeks for the flu shot to work after getting one. The effects of the shot may decrease over time. This said, the best time to cover yourself for peak season is late September to October.

Remember, getting a Flu Shot earlier may be necessary if it is a child getting first doses, someone who cannot show up at a later time to get vaccinated, or if you are in your third trimester of pregnancy.

If someone talks you into a Flu Shot earlier, know that you may not have the best protection to get you through the season.
