Our residents are so excited to start using our new dignity bibs! Here is Ray showing off one of the first ones alongside our Housekeeping Director, Hailey, who has been the driving force behind this project. Hailey has been monumental in spreading the word, gathering shirt donations, and organizing volunteers to sew them, making each bib truly special. A big thank you goes to her, as well as to everyone who donated shirts, time, and skills to help our residents enjoy mealtimes even more! 🫢✨

The St. Joseph Nursing Home is the first Roman Catholic nursing home in central Illinois.

The Home is located in Lacon and was built by the Daughters of St. Francis of Assisi, a small order of the Sisters who came to U.S.A. shortly after World War II in 1946 to establish an American Province.

The Sisters, following their charism and mission to care for sick, poor and abandoned, wanted to establish a service project in the Lacon area. In the beginning there were plans to build a hospital, but they found out the more urgent need was to provide care for the elderly and poor, and a decision was made to build a nursing home.
