About a decade ago, I was invited by a family member to offer a healing to a man in the final stages of terminal illness.
When I arrived, it quickly turned into a very different experience than what I thought I was walking into.
Instead of being wiling to receive a healing, he challenged my beliefs.
Called them wrong, and shared a completely different belief system he held.
"Wow, what am I doing here?" I wondered.
And in that moment, I had a choice: defend … or listen.
So I grounded.
I let go of any healing request that had been made ahead of time.
And I simply witnessed him, heart to heart, and had a beautiful conversation with him.
No energy work.
No sharing of why I had come.
Just presence.
Curiosity.
The next day, his daughter said he seemed more peaceful than he had in weeks.
A beautiful reminder:
Healing isn’t always doing.
Sometimes it’s being.
Holding space means releasing your agenda
and allowing someone to be fully seen, exactly as they are.
And that kind of presence…
changes everything.
