Sometimes when we feel overwhelmed, it’s not just in our head—our nervous system is activated and trying to protect us.
When that happens, it can feel hard to think clearly, stay present, or even feel like yourself.

That’s where quick, sensory-based “reset” strategies can help bring you back into the moment.

Things like:
• holding something cold
• splashing cold water on your face
• stepping outside for fresh air
• engaging your senses (what you can see, hear, feel)

These aren’t about forcing yourself to calm down—they’re about giving your nervous system a signal that you’re safe enough to come back to the present.

Over time, learning how to gently interrupt that activated state can help you feel more in control, rather than overwhelmed by it.

We’re thrilled to welcome Kaitlyn Thibodeaux, LPC to our team! Kaitlyn is a warm, grounded, and compassionate therapist who is passionate about helping clients find peace, healing, and confidence in their lives.

She supports individuals navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, and life transitions, offering a safe space to uncover what’s holding them back and discover new paths forward.

Kaitlyn is trained in Deep Brain Reorienting (DBR) — an innovative trauma therapy that helps the brain and body heal at a deep, foundational level. Her approach is collaborative, relational, and rooted in genuine connection.

As a former LSU track & field athlete, Kaitlyn has a special heart for athletes and high performers, helping them manage the pressures of competition, identity changes, and finding purpose beyond their sport.

For those who desire it, she also offers Christian counseling, integrating faith in a way that aligns with each client’s unique beliefs and values.

As a newbie therapist we have direct access to a supervisor, usually are working with others, & have much easier access to connection, consultation, and collaboration with other therapists. But post licensure, especially if you’re a solo private practice clinician, it can be difficult. Clarté Counseling, LLC is excited to start hosting a monthly FREE open (meaning you’re welcome to come & go as your schedule permits) connections & consultation group for other local therapists to come connect, collaborate, and get feedback and support from one another.
