I want to share something I deeply believe as a physician…

Medication alone is not the answer.
Lifestyle alone is not the answer.
It’s the combination that changes everything.

In this week's episode, I’m walking you through a real patient story—someone who had been living with type 2 diabetes for over a decade, doing everything right… and still not seeing results.

In this episode, I break down the 5 exact shifts that changed everything for him.

If you’re navigating diabetes or any chronic condition, this episode is for you.

You probably don’t need as many supplements as you think.

And that’s exactly what Dr. Esra Shermadou emphasized.

She recommends starting with:

✅ Creatine (3–5g daily)
✅ Vitamin D
✅ Omega-3

These cover the essentials for most people.

After that, it comes down to individual needs:

✔️ Electrolytes if you’re sweating during workouts
✔️ Protein powder if you’re not meeting your daily protein intake

And that’s where it stops.

Because the goal isn’t to build a long supplement list. It’s to support what you’re already doing consistently.

A simple routine is easier to follow, which makes it effective.

If you’ve been overthinking fitness, supplements, or where to even start… this episode is for you.

Go watch/listen to the full episode—you’ll take away more than just one tip!

If you’ve ever felt like you’re getting bits and pieces of information about your health, but nothing that really connects, you’re not alone.

That’s something I see all the time.

Patients are trying, they’re putting in effort, but they don’t have a clear framework to understand what’s happening in their body.

That’s where Hormones & Hope comes in.

I created this podcast to bring everything together in one place.

What you’ll find inside:

✨ Real-life patient insights
✨ Expert interviews across multiple specialties
✨ Actionable strategies you can actually follow

This isn’t about giving you more information to feel overwhelmed by.

It’s about helping you understand what actually matters and what you can do about it.

Whether you’re dealing with a specific condition or just trying to feel better overall, this is a good place to start.

“Why is this happening? Is it something I’m doing wrong—or just the world my child is growing up in?”

This is what parents ask Dr. Lauren Hartman all the time and it’s exactly what we discuuss in this week’s episode.

When it comes to eating disorders, everyone is looking for one clear reason. But the truth is, there isn’t one.

It’s not just social media. It’s not just genetics. It’s a combination of all of it.

And yet, parents—especially mothers often end up carrying the blame.

One of the biggest takeaways for me was how much our everyday language matters.

The way we talk about our own bodies, the way we comment on other people’s appearance—these small, routine things shape how kids understand value, confidence, and self-worth.

Shifting those conversations doesn’t mean being perfect. It just means being more aware.

If you’ve ever questioned yourself as a parent, this episode will help you look at things with more clarity and a lot less guilt.

If you see yourself in this, you’re not alone.

So many men delay seeking care not because they don’t care, but because they don’t know where to start.

And honestly? The healthcare system doesn’t always make it easy.

But prevention isn’t just for women.

It’s for every man who wants to stay strong, present, and energized for his family and his life.

And sometimes, one focused conversation is all it takes to create clarity.

👉 Swipe left to see what most men miss when it comes to prevention.

New episode is now live!🎧

I sat down with Adolescent Medicine Specialist Dr. Lauren Hartman to talk about something many parents worry about, but don’t always know how to approach: eating disorders in kids and teens

We also talk about:
– Why eating disorders are showing up younger than ever
– The difference between disordered eating and a clinical diagnosis
– Why you don’t need to “wait until it’s serious” to get support
– And how early intervention can completely change outcomes

What I appreciated most is that this conversation focuses on awareness, small shifts, and actionable steps for parents moving forward.

There’s also a lot of reassurance in knowing that recovery is possible and that families can get through this together with the right support!

Listen in and share it with a parent who would benefit from this.✨

GLP-1s get all the headlines. But what happens when they're not an option for you?

Dr. Sarah Stombaugh gets asked this all the time and her answer might surprise you.

In this episode, she walks through the full pharmacological toolkit available for patients who can't tolerate GLP-1s — from bupropion and naltrexone for cravings, to phentermine for metabolism, to topiramate for appetite regulation.

She even references a fascinating 2015 study showing that when patients are matched to the right medication for their specific struggle, average weight loss matches what we see with today's most popular GLP-1 drugs.

The message is simple but important: there is no one-size-fits-all solution in obesity medicine. Your struggles are specific to you, and your treatment plan should be too.

I often see patients who say, “I felt fine, so I did not think I needed to check anything.”

But many health changes happen quietly in the background.

This World Health Day, I want to focus on awareness.

Knowing your baseline.
Staying consistent with check ups.
Not ignoring ongoing stress or subtle symptoms.

And also paying attention to stress, because it does affect more than just how you feel. It impacts your hormones, your gut, and your overall health.

You do not need to do everything at once. Start with one area and build from there.

Taking action early can help you make better decisions for your long-term health.

If you have questions about your health, your reports, or the next steps, feel free to reach out or drop your questions below.

If you’re trying to improve your health but don’t know where to focus… this might help simplify it.

In this week’s episode with Dr. Ali Zaidi, he simplifies longevity in a way that’s actually actionable.

The focus is not on doing more, but on understanding your risk for the major conditions that impact how we age, and then build your lifestyle around reducing those risks over time.

It shifts the focus from doing everything to doing what actually matters.

He also reframes longevity in a way that I think most of us resonate with. It’s not about extending life endlessly, but about staying healthy, independent, and functional for as long as possible.

Because the reality is, there’s often a gap between how long we live and how long we feel well.

What stood out is how much this comes back to the basics—nutrition, movement, sleep, and connection.

This episode is a great place to start if you’ve been feeling unsure or overwhelmed.

Most people don't fail at health goals because they lack discipline.

They fail because they try to change everything at once.

Here's what I keep coming back to - for myself and for my patients: You don't need a perfect plan. You need one small shift, done consistently.

The two shifts I recommend starting with? Cutting back on processed sugar and eating more fiber.

Swipe left - if you've ever felt like you're doing everything right and still not seeing results, this one's for you.

Save this, share it with someone who needs it, and follow along for more evidence-based tips on nutrition and metabolic health you can actually use.

✨ The 4 pillars that actually matter - movement, nutrition, sleep, and connection
✨ Why exercise is one of the most powerful tools you already have
✨ And how even starting in midlife can transform your future

One of my biggest takeaways?

"High blood sugar and dental procedures… what’s the connection?"

I asked Dr. Abhi Thakkar this exact question and here's what he explained:

When blood glucose levels are high, three major things happen:

First, your immune system weakens.

Second, healing slows down.

Third and most importantly — it becomes a vicious cycle.

High blood sugar increases infection risk.
Infection triggers stress hormones like cortisol.
Cortisol raises blood sugar even more.
And the cycle continues.

This is why dentists are cautious with poorly controlled diabetes. Not to deny care, but to protect you.

Oral health and metabolic health are deeply connected.

Have you ever had a dental procedure delayed because of blood sugar?

Drop your experience below. 👇
