I wish more women knew that changes in libido aren't just "part of aging" or something you're supposed to quietly accept.

A few months ago, I had the privilege of sitting down with Dr. Adanna Ikedilo to talk about something that affects so many women but rarely gets discussed openly: changes in libido.

The message of the episode was simple: if changes in your libido are affecting your quality of life, you deserve care.

Not judgment. Not dismissal. Not being told it's "all in your head."

Sexual health is health. And women deserve better conversations, better options, and better outcomes.

If you missed this episode the first time around, or if you need to hear it again, I highly recommend going back to it.

It's one of those conversations I think every woman and honestly, everyone who cares about women's health should hear.

“Kids just outgrow it.”

Do they though?

We hear this all the time when it comes to childhood obesity and it’s one of the biggest myths out there.

Genetics? Not the full story.

Carbs? Not the villain.

“Healthy” snacks? Not always healthy.

Willpower? Definitely not the issue.

Childhood obesity is a chronic medical condition that affects metabolism, hormones, sleep, and long-term health.

And waiting doesn’t fix it.

👉 Swipe left. These myths are more common than you think.

🎧 If this surprised you, the full episode with Pediatrics Obesity Specialist Dr. Sushma Chamarthi dives even deeper.

🎙️ New Episode Now Live with Dr. Thakkar and we’re talking about something we don’t discuss enough.

Your oral health.

One of my favorite lines from this episode with Dr. Thakkar:

“It’s not just about how much sugar. It’s about how often.”

We discuss:

🦷 Sugar doesn’t just affect your weight or blood sugar. It changes the pH in your mouth.
🦷 Frequent snacking is more harmful than most people realize.
🦷 Gum disease and diabetes have a bi-directional relationship.
🦷 High blood sugars can delay healing after dental procedures.
🦷 Oral health truly is a gateway to whole-body health.

If you’ve never thought about how your dental health impacts your metabolic health, this episode will change that.

Your body is not a collection of isolated lab numbers. It’s an integrated system. And when something feels off, it deserves careful attention, not a rushed conversation.

The right kind of care creates space to slow down, ask better questions, and build a plan that actually makes sense for you.✅

If you’re looking for care that feels more personal and more connected, we would love to support you.

Patient care dilemmas in healthcare system

What changed in the last few decades that made sleep such a struggle?

This was a key question on this podcast, and Dr. Nishi Bhopal explained it beautifully.

We didn’t suddenly forget how to sleep. Our environment changed.

Constant stimulation, blurred work-life boundaries, metabolic shifts, obesity-related sleep disorders, and nutritional deficiencies all play a role.

The result? Insufficient sleep is now considered a public health crisis.

If sleep is off, hormones, mood, metabolism, and long-term health often follow.

👉 Want to learn more about how sleep affects hormones, metabolism, and long-term health?

We are wired for connection.

Our brains and hormones respond when we feel seen, supported, and valued.

That might come from a friend.
A family member.
A patient.
A colleague.
A community.

Appreciation, gratitude, laughter, kindness — they all trigger biochemical changes that support well-being.

This Valentine’s Day, celebrate human connection in all its forms.✨

If you’re struggling with erectile dysfunction, the first thing most people ask for is testosterone.

But here’s what and I discussed in Part 2 of this episode 👇

✔️ Low testosterone does NOT automatically mean you need testosterone therapy
✔️ Testosterone does NOT guarantee better erections
✔️ ED medications do NOT fix desire, mood, or energy
✔️ And yes, intimacy still matters

For men who do not respond to oral medications, we reviewed additional options - injection therapy, vacuum devices, and newer regenerative techniques that are emerging in sexual medicine.

What stood out most in this conversation is that ED is rarely simple. But that also means there are multiple pathways to improvement.

No one should feel embarrassed to ask questions. And no one should feel like there is only one solution.

If you or your partner have ever wondered whether ED is “just low T,” this episode is for you.

Erectile dysfunction is often talked about as a sexual problem.

But medically? It’s much more than that.

One of the most important takeaways from my conversation with :

ED can precede cardiovascular disease by two to three years.

Why does this happen?

Because the blood vessels in the p***s are smaller than those in the heart. When blood flow begins to change, it often shows up there first.

We also discuss why comprehensive evaluation matters including medical history, sexual history, sleep patterns, stress, medications, and lab work and why quick fixes without proper assessment often miss the bigger picture.

👉 Most fractures don’t happen overnight.

They’re the result of silent changes happening for years.

If you’re in midlife, perimenopause, have had a fracture, low testosterone, or a family history, this matters for you.

I walk through five steps that help bring clarity to bone health decisions: understanding risk factors, choosing the right bone density scan, interpreting it in context, building balance and muscle, and completing focused evaluations when needed.

Bone health is never one-size-fits-all.❌

And treatment decisions should always be personalized.

Got questions about low bone density, bone scans, or prevention? Leave them in the comments below.⬇️

A common pattern I see is patients doing everything they’ve been advised to do, yet still feeling stuck.

The missing piece is often integration. 🧩

Hormonal balance, metabolism, bone health, and diabetes care are interconnected and influenced by sleep, stress, weight, and nutrition.🥗

Supplements can play a role in correcting deficiencies, but they are not solutions on their own. Meaningful progress comes from understanding what’s right for your body and moving forward thoughtfully, even in small, steady steps.

At Unified Endocrine & Diabetes Care, we take the time to explain how your thyroid, insulin, estrogen, cortisol, and metabolism communicate with each other, instead of treating numbers in isolation.

If you’re tired of managing symptoms without understanding the why, let’s change that.
