This month we're shining a spotlight on Dr. Amanda Lemoine Alleyn, M.D.! She’s a native of Avoyelles Parish, a mother of two, and one of the amazing doctors here at Southern. She and her family are delighted to have settled in Lafayette where they love experimenting with new recipes, spending time with family and friends, and enjoying local music and events.
Dr. Alleyn received a Bachelor of Science degree in Microbiology from LSU and her doctorate of medicine and training in Obstetrics and Gynecology from LSU Health Sciences Center in New Orleans, where she also served as Chief Resident.
She received the Excellence in Laparoscopic Surgery award and is a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society. During her training, she participated in both routine and high risk obstetrical and gynecological care, obtaining thorough knowledge and practice in minimally invasive surgical techniques.
Dr. Alleyn currently serves as the Chairperson of the Department of Women’s Services at Lafayette General Medical Center. She is also a board member for Maddie’s Footprints, a local nonprofit organization that provides emotional and financial support for families who have experienced pregnancy or infant loss.
