March is Women’s History Month, a time to recognize and celebrate the women who have helped shape our communities, professions, and everyday lives.

Funeral service is a field where women have made meaningful contributions for generations. The photo shared with this post features two of the women who serve families here every day — owner Josie Toller and her assistant, Lily Eubank. We’re proud to have them as part of our funeral home and the care they provide to the families in our community.

We’re also sharing a short 3-minute video from Kari the Mortician about Henrietta Duterte, who is recognized as the first woman funeral director in the United States. Her story is an important part of the history of funeral service and the path that helped open doors for women in the profession.

Elizabeth was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She is survived by her 4 daughters Tammie (James) Monger, Terrie Toth, Tilara (Steve) Treece and Melissa Mickle; grandchildren, Blair (Ryan) Bell, Peter (Ashley) Monger, Elizabeth Monger, Tyler (Tori) Monger, Taylor Treece, Megan, Marcie and Mason Mickle; great-grandchildren, Lyla Bell, Ellia & Reese Monger; nephews Eric & Michael Curry, who brought her immense joy and pride.

The Market never disappoints.
Got to spend the morning/lunch at one of my favorite spots ♥️

While my assistant Lily covers me at the office- I get to work “remotely” some days and tend to my families. A funeral directors schedule is ever changing but I still find fleeting moments to slow down & enjoy life.

Today’s order:
Coffee- ice banana bread latte (10/10 so cozy on this rainy day 🍌)
Lunch- Chicken bacon ranch wrap (they made the most simple meal, next level GOOD 😝🥓)

Shopping haul:
-the best moisturizer, I don’t care what kind of skin type you have, this stuff is good for everyone 🤩 Your skin will thank you!
-I’ve switched all my candles to soy (cleaner & healthier option) these last forever & she has such a variety of scents. (I’m a pumpkin loving girl all year around 🎃)

Neal leaves behind his loving parents, Mary Jane and Charlie Tam of Lafayette; his son Dominic Tam of Lafayette. He is also survived by his brother, Damian (Leanne) Tam of Plainfield, along with his niece, Sarah Tam, and nephew, Brian Tam.
