Question❓

How long does Medicare allow home health to treat a patient in their home?

Answer❗️

Medicare home health care is approved in certification periods, typically 60 days at a time.
At the end of each period, the doctor must recertify that the patient still:
• Is homebound, and
• Needs skilled care (nursing or therapy).
There is no lifetime cap on the number of
60-day periods as long as eligibility continues.
