Junior Xavier Bentley has been named the Macon County High School football player of the week following last Friday evening's 31-28, season-ending loss to Red Bank in the opening round of the Class 4A playoffs.
Bentley – a halfback – rushed for a 6-yard touchdown in the second quarter and then produced the game’s final touchdown with a 40-yard reception from senior quarterback Matthew Wheeley with 2:04 remaining.
He rushed for 28 yards on nine carries, and he returned three kickoffs for 69 yards, an average of 23 yards per return.
Bentley received a $50 gift card.

Senior Gavin Johnson has been named the Macon County High School football player of the week following last Friday evening's 48-17 loss to Upperman.
Johnson – a two-way lineman – helped the Tiger offense score the third-most points against the sixth-ranked Bees this season.
He also recovered an Upperman fumble on defense.
Johnson received a $50 gift card.

Junior Brennan Flowers has been named the Macon County High School football player of the week following last Friday evening's 28-26, road victory over Livingston Academy. Flowers – a fullback – rushed for 64 yards on nine carries, including touchdown runs of 5 and 1 yards.
He also had a team-leading four receptions for 71 additional yards.
