Offering Pediatric Speech and Language, Occupational, Feeding, and Orofacial Myofunctional Therapies.

We offer therapy in a clinic based setting as well as several preschools and private schools in Acadiana. Southern Speech is a practice dedicated to helping our children find their voice, independence and a means to socialize with their family and peers during daily routines and activities. We specialize in evidence-based and effective treatment related to speech and language disorders, feeding disorders, and orofacial myofunctional disorders. We offer clinic-based services and also travel to some local daycares and private-schools. Our collaborative and positive approach are just a few things that help build towards a successful future for everyone we work with.

A local teenager and her mom are working to create a supportive community of AAC users in the Lafayette area!

Please join us for our first meeting on Friday, March 6th, from 1:00-2:00pm. We're excited to welcome AAC users of all ages. Family members welcome!

Please help us welcome our newest Occupational Therapist, Ellen Moosa Leblanc! Ellen has 8 years experience in pediatric settings. She is certified in Ayers Sensory Integration (ASI), which is a play-based, brain-body approach that helps kids process sensory information so they can feel more comfortable in their bodies, improve focus, and confidently take on everyday activities. To obtain this certification, Ellen completed 180 hours of training and a 5 year mentorship under ASI-trained OTs.

Ellen also completed 58 hours towards the USC Chan Sensory Intergation certification and has 50+ more hours in specialized trainings in the areas of regulation, reflex integration, and therapeutic play.

She is passionate about supporting children in developing the regulation, coordination, and emotional skills needed to thrive in everyday life!

We’re excited to offer a Toddler (1–2 years) Social Skills Class designed to support early social development through music, movement, and play 🎵

This 12-week program helps toddlers practice:
✨ Turn-taking
✨ Joint attention
✨ Social engagement
✨ Early communication
✨ Play skills

Parents and caregivers will also receive ideas to continue learning at home.

Our Occupational Therapist, Mary, is trained to identify areas of difficulties or delay, in certain areas of your child’s development. An evaluation and possible therapy can be very informative in helping understand how to best support your child’s needs; whether it be at home, in the classroom, or in newer situations.
