We’ve got goat babies! It has been a while since I posted but if there was ever a time! Around 3pm yesterday Caitlin heard a baby cry that wasn’t quite human… and discovered 3 little baby goats in the goat pen! Rue is a first time mom and very attentive but we’re still working to support her with feeding them. A couple lucky folks were able to have gentle, respectful therapy sessions with these brand new little lives.

Harvest season like we’ve never experienced before! So grateful for the abundance and for the therapy that happens while picking apples 🍏 🍎 🍏

Garden update: corn was thoroughly enjoyed by grasshoppers, the sunflowers are their own forest, pumpkins are bumpin’ and tomatoes could probably use more support next year. One person’s weeds is another goats treats. I’ve learned so much this year and have had many tasty treats grown from seeds!

This week on goat tv… 🐐📺
One of the most common questions I get is “what do farm therapy sessions look like?” Valid question that is hard to answer because sometimes goats are jumping on chairs and horses are taking horse breaths. I hope this little glimpse of is nourishing to your nervous system.

The air smells like blooming olive trees and roses, there are crickets chirping, dogs barking and doves cooing. The air feels warm and sweet with a soft cool breeze. It is all saying “be here now”.

I’M STEPHANIE MCBRIDE, LPCC, NATURE-BASED THERAPIST. MY PASSION AND PROFESSIONAL CALLING IS TO CONNECT PEOPLE TO NATURE AS A SUPPORT THROUGH LIFE’S TRANSITIONS.
I have been working in the mental health field since 2012. Between answering calls on a crisis helpline, to supporting survivors of violent crimes in a police department, to working an emergency mental health hospital I realized two transformative lessons:
Mental health effects everyone, not just people who have a diagnosis. Mental health is directly connected to our overall wellness.
Talking about what we “should” be doing in a controlled environment inside four walls is not right for everyone. We respond and learn on a cellular level when we have an experience of doing things differently.
These lessons along with my own transformative experiences in nature planted the seeds for my practice ReRoot Therapy. Based on my experience with clients, the most transformative moments happen not from a planned activity, but from what happens in the moment with the natural world, then as the therapist I help clients integrate change. I customize and co-create sessions with clients through experiences with horses, gardening, or nature walks.
