This morning, the leadership team of the Acadiana PACES Alliance came together for a focused and productive Board Retreat.

We strengthened our organizational structure, walked through a comprehensive SWOT analysis, began planning our Spring Conference, and set clear goals for the next few years of the organization. The work was intentional, honest, and rooted in accountability.

We were also honored to have a visit from Mrs. Ashley Orphe the CEO of Southwest Louisiana Area Health Education Center (SWALHEC). We are grateful for their partnership and continued support, which has helped strengthen our capacity and vision as an organization. Strong partnerships matter, and we appreciate those who believe in the work and walk alongside us.

We remain committed to building an organization that is prepared, strategic, and people-centered. The foundation is being laid. The vision is clear. And the work continues.

Human Rights for Kids has recently published a report titled "The Childhood Trauma-to-Prison Pipeline: The Prosecution and Incarceration of Traumatized Children as Adults." Over the previous academic year, PACEs Alliance members Val MacGyvers and Whitney Storey led a Faculty Learning Community on trauma-informed instruction. As we know, people with adverse childhood experiences carry that trauma everywhere, including college campuses, and we are committed to doing what we can to reverse the consequences of ACEs.
