In a concerted effort to support our families and staff who may be experiencing food insecurity, we are launching the Right Steps Caring Cupboard at each of our centers.

We are accepting donations of shelf-stable foods and fresh produce at six of our seven centers (locations listed in the graphic below). These items will be available to families with young children and our staff members.

We are proud to partner with community early childhood champions to solve issues facing our local children, families, and economy! Amidst funding cuts, it’s reassuring to know that so many are fighting for high-quality early care and education!

Childcare is infrastructure —and our community is stepping up. Ivy Tech Community College of Indiana-Lafayette, Right Steps, Greater Lafayette Career Academy, Purdue’s Center for Early Learning, and the Early Learning Workforce Coalition are already leading efforts to strengthen childcare and early learning.

With over 55 years of expertise, Right Steps is proud to continue to offer the highest quality early care and education services in Greater Lafayette and beyond! Unfortunately, a long-standing program has come to an end.

Today marks the end of an era for one of our programs. For 40 years, Right Steps has offered local Child Care Resource and Referral (CCR&R) Services to children, families, child care programs, and communities across Indiana. Earlier this year, we learned that the State of Indiana is terminating the CCR&R network statewide—following funding cuts and the loss of other essential programs that benefit children and families.

We are proud of the impact CCR&R services have made over the past four decades and are deeply grateful to the families, providers, and partners who trusted us to walk alongside them. As this chapter comes to a close, our mission remains strong: to support children and families in Greater Lafayette through access to high-quality, affordable early care and education.

🌱🥕 The garden our children planted and cared for is booming with fresh vegetables! We’re so excited to share some of these goodies with our families.

As the children worked in the garden, they strengthened important fine motor skills (planting seeds, picking vegetables) and gross motor skills (digging, watering, carrying). This hands-on experience has been such a fun way for them to learn, explore, and see the results of their hard work.

We are so proud of their efforts and can’t wait for families to enjoy this special harvest with us! 🌽🍅
