Your dog tore their CCL, now what?

What does it mean? ⁉️
This ligament, ACL in humans, stabilizes the knee joint and prevents excessive front & back movement. Tears can be partial or complete.

How does it happen? 🐶
Many factors are at play: obesity, degeneration, genetics, confirmation & breed - but injury can happen to dogs of all shapes & sizes. In our clinical experience owners don’t always see an injury happen but rough play and repetitive activity (like fetch) are common mechanisms of injury.

What are the treatment options? 🩺
Veterinary care is always required when this injury is suspected. Treatment depends on the severity and options include surgery, rehabilitation or bracing.

What can chiropractic care do? ❤️‍🩹
Chiropractic adjustments target the compensation problems associated with the injury. This allows for proper healing, nerve supply, and range of motion throughout the body.
PEMF is an additional service that may be beneficial by targeting inflammation to promote healing in muscles and ligaments.

1: Before Arrival ✅
Checklist: Paperwork, breed specific muzzle (ex French bulldog, English mastiff), reward treats to provide a safe & comfortable environment.

2: Review History ❤️‍🩹
We go over the primary complaint and health history to establish if the case is chiropractic related and form a specific approach to care. It’s important to know possible surgeries, falls, or conditions that may impact health.

3: Physical Assessment 🐾
Analysis of gait, posture, & range of motion helps to pinpoint potential problem areas & address compensation patterns.

4: Chiropractic Care 🦴
Most often a chiropractic adjustment the choice of care to improve nerve function, range of motion, and overall health. Safe, effective, & gentle as always.

5: Additonal Services ⭐️
Other services may be added on depending on the needs of the patient. PEMF, Red Light, etc. may aid in their healing & longevity.

6: Create Care Plan 🚦
A plan of care is created specific to your pet’s condition, there is no one size fits all approach. Follow up visits allow us to review our plan and make necessary changes.
