Eating real food matters more than following the “perfect” diet.

When people move away from packaged foods and focus on whole or minimally processed ingredients, they almost always get healthier. Real food is easier for the body to recognize and process, with fewer preservatives, fewer additives, and less strain.

Is it perfect? No. But when the foundation is simple, real food, most people are already doing a lot right. Get the basics right most of the time, and health tends to follow.

Want a smarter take on nutrition? Tune in to episode 189 of the Pain and Performance Podcast, Why the New Food Pyramid Finally Makes Sense, now streaming at www.derrickhines.com.

Pelvic floor health impacts more than most people realize and it affects everyone, not just women.

When pelvic floor dysfunction goes untreated, it can quietly contribute to pain, poor posture, and movement limitations that don’t seem connected at first. That’s why proper assessment matters.

This workshop is designed to educate, clarify, and help you understand how pelvic floor health supports overall stability and comfort without confusion or stigma.

Pelvic floor dysfunction is far more common than most people realize… and it’s rarely talked about.

About 30% of all women will experience it at some point, and for women who’ve had children, that number jumps to 50–85%.

This can include leaking, painful s*x, dryness, and bowel or bladder issues and many cases go unreported. Men are affected too, often through low back pain or erectile dysfunction.

That’s why we’re hosting an informational pelvic floor workshop: Pelvic Floor Breakthrough on March 4th to answer questions and share insights you likely haven’t heard before. This is about education, clarity, and real solutions.

Lately, my life feels quieter, but clearer.

I’ve stopped chasing everything and started protecting a few things that actually hold me together. The moments around the table, the energy in my body when I take care of it, the pull in my heart that reminds me I’m here for more than just checking boxes.

When those pieces are in place, everything else works. My work has meaning. My days feel aligned. I’m not just busy, I’m intentional. I don’t need a perfect life, just one that lets me show up fully for the people I love and the people I’m meant to serve.

That’s the season I’m in. And I’m learning to honor it.

If you’re building a life that feels more aligned and less rushed, follow along for more honest reflections and real growth.

Most people obsess over sleep scores, but miss what actually drives good sleep.

Deep, restorative sleep depends on three internal metrics: heart rate, breathing rate, and core body temperature. If those don’t drop early in the night, sleep quality suffers no matter what the app says.

Sleep doesn’t start in your bedroom setup. It starts inside your body.

Explore the powerful connection between sleep and wellness in episode 187 of the Pain and Performance Podcast, “What Your Sleep Is Trying to Tell You About Your Health,” with Dr. Peter Martone, on www.derrickhines.com

Fasting isn’t a test of willpower; it’s a stress conversation with your body.

When stress is high, your nervous system interprets fasting as a threat, making it harder to sustain. The body stays in survival mode and resists the very benefits people are fasting for.

Fasting works best in a calm, regulated body. With lower stress, the body can shift into repair mode: supporting inflammation reduction, tissue healing, and metabolic health.

If stress or pain has been getting in the way of your health goals, Acadiana Pain and Performance can help you build a plan that supports healing, not burnout.

Core bracing is about support, not holding your breath or sucking in your stomach.

Think of your core like a barrel, everything tight and working together. Gently pull your belly button toward your spine, or take a deep breath, exhale, and hold that tight feeling.

This helps protect your spine and improve strength during movement.

Comment “CORE” if you want more simple tips on how to brace and move better.

If better sleep feels impossible, you might be missing one key thing: your setup.

Sleep isn’t just about habits; it’s about how your body is supported. When your setup works against your nervous system, quality sleep becomes harder to reach.

There are three factors you can control every night. Align them correctly, and many people notice better sleep almost immediately.

Learn what your sleep may be revealing about your health in episode 187 of the Pain and Performance Podcast “What Your Sleep Is Trying to Tell You About Your Health” with Dr. Peter Martone on www.derrickhines.com

Better sleep improves almost every part of your health, but here’s the part most people miss.

Sleep isn’t something you fix on its own. It’s actually a result of good health. When your body is healthier, sleep naturally gets better. That’s why focusing only on sleep tips often falls short.

Instead of chasing perfect sleep, start improving the things that support it: your overall health. When that improves, better sleep follows.

Learn what your sleep may be revealing about your health in episode 187 of the Pain and Performance Podcast “What Your Sleep Is Trying to Tell You About Your Health” with Dr. Peter Martone on www.derrickhines.com.

Most people try to force results. Harder workouts, stricter diets, more discipline.

But real progress comes from building a strong foundation.

When you support sleep, nutrition, movement, stress, energy, and relationships, your body becomes more resilient. Healing happens easier. Consistency feels natural. And long-term health actually sticks.

Build the foundation first. Everything else gets easier.

I used to think the answer was always more. More hours, more pressure, more pushing. If I just moved faster, I’d get there quicker.

But then I burned out… and still felt behind.

What I’ve learned is this: growth isn’t about one speed. It’s about the right speed.

There are seasons when you need to move with urgency. Tighten your focus, raise your standards, and match the pace of people who are already producing at a higher level.

And then there are seasons when moving fast actually costs you clarity. When your best ideas need space, not noise. When slowing down isn’t quitting, it’s protecting what matters most.

The hard part isn’t speeding up or slowing down. It’s being honest enough to admit where you actually are.

If this hit home, you’re not alone. Follow along for more real conversations about growth, balance, and building without burning out.
