New year, fresh focus! 🤗

If you haven’t picked a goal to work on this year yet, improving your posture is a simple place to begin! ✨ The way you hold your head and spine every day plays a bigger role in your health than most people realize...

Forward head posture can affect balance, breathing, and how efficiently your nervous system communicates with the rest of your body. Research highlighted by Annals of Vertebral Subluxation Research shows that posture isn’t just structural, it’s neurological and we see the evidence of that every day in our office. 🧠➡️🧍‍♀️

So, ready to support better posture? Here's a few simple ways to start:

✅ Stay consistent with your prescribed adjustment schedule
✅ Practice Dr. Laura’s spinal hygiene exercises at home
✅ Catch and correct habits that distort posture like phone use, desk work, and driving positions

At its core, posture is about the brain–body connection. When your spine is supported, communication between your brain and body works better, and so do you. 💫

Have questions or need guidance? We’re always here to help 💙

💧If you’re looking for a simple, powerful goal to start in the new year, drinking more water is a great one!

Staying hydrated helps:
🌟 Support spinal disc health (those discs need water to stay cushioned and resilient)
🌟 Improve joint mobility and muscle function
🌟 Boost energy, focus, and digestion
🌟 Reduce stiffness and tension

🤔 So, how much water do you need?
A good rule of thumb is half your body weight in ounces per day (for example: 160 lbs = 80 oz of water).
🏔️🏋🏼‍♀️⛹️ Living in Colorado, being at higher altitude and very dry, or sweating a lot during workouts means you’ll need even more.
☕🍷 Love coffee or the occasional drink?
Since caffeine and alcohol are diuretics, rehydrate ounce for ounce - every 8 oz of coffee or alcohol = an extra 8 oz of water.

🦴 Why this matters for chiropractic care:
Research shows that well-hydrated tissues respond better to movement and spinal adjustments because hydration improves tissue elasticity and disc hydration, helping your body adapt and heal more efficiently!

👉 Where to start:
Add one glass of water to your daily routine. Once that becomes normal, add another! Do this until you are up to the right amount of ounces for you. Consider switching out a non water beverage in your day to water for extra health benefits... One less soda pop, juice or sugar and chemical laden sports drink.👍

🎉 New year, new habit, one sip at a time. Try making hydration your first goal of the year and see how much better your body feels. Your spine will thank you! 💙🩵💙

Okay, let’s talk New Year’s resolutions! 🎉✨

We all love the idea of hitting reset in January, but lasting change usually doesn’t happen from overnight motivation... it comes from sustainable habits and behaviors that we build one small step at a time! 😎

Science shows that real habit change doesn’t happen in just a few weeks. Research finds it can take 2–5 months or more of consistent action for a new behavior to become automatic, and that’s totally normal! 😯 The process varies from person to person and depends on the behavior itself, how often you repeat it, and the context around it. 👉That’s why trying to do everything at once usually leads to burnout. Instead, focus on bite-sized, consistent actions, even something as small as one extra glass of water a day, a 5-minute walk, or focusing on better posture while on your phone or reading. (Dr. Laura reeeeally likes that last one! 👍) These little steps may feel small in the moment, but they compound over time and create real, long-term change. 🥳 That's what we're looking for, right?!

And here’s the best part: you don’t have to wait for January 1st to start becoming the best version of you. You can make small, meaningful changes all year long, and by the time the next new year rolls around, you’ll be amazed at how much you’ve grown! 😍

Let’s make this year the year of lasting, joyful progress, one step at a time! 💪💞🤗

As a new year approaches ✨, it’s natural to start thinking about goals and fresh starts... 🎯

Around our office, we love talking about ways to get the most out of your chiropractic care by staying consistent with your prescribed care plan 📅, doing your spinal hygiene exercises 💪, and starting or stopping habits that support your spine and overall well-being 🌿.

The secret to lasting change is keeping it simple and sustainable! 🌱 Focus on one small change at a time, let it become part of your lifestyle, and then build from there. Health isn’t about all-or-nothing resolutions, it’s about steady progress that adds up over time to make real change. 🌳

If you’d like guidance, we’re here for you! 🫶 Ask us at your next visit, schedule a specialty appointment for more in depth discussions, or join our Better Results Faster Workshop that's available to all patients as often as you’d like. 🙌 You can also drop your questions in the comments below! 💬 We’d love to support you as you step into the new year feeling strong, confident, and encouraged.
