Honored to speak to 660 K–3 students at West Lafayette Elementary School for Black History Month.
We talked about identity, dignity, and the simple but powerful words:
“I Am Somebody.”
Watching those young voices repeat that affirmation together was something I will never forget.
This year’s theme was “You Are Beautiful Just As You Are,” and that message matters — especially at an early age. Through storytelling, local history, and personal experience, we reminded students that words matter, character matters, and they each have the power to stand tall.
Grateful for the leadership of Principal Sara Delaney and program founder Donna Rayman for creating space where every child is seen and valued.
And thank you to TV18 for covering this meaningful day.

The future is shaped in rooms like these.
