Your brain isn't stuck. It's designed to change.
If you notice yourself slipping back into past patterns of thought/behavior that keep you emotionally (and, as a result, likely physically) sick, Holistic ReDesign is the perfect tool for you.
Many of us fall right back into those red zones as soon as someone or something triggers us.
We may start to feel frustrated, not just with those around us, but even with ourselves for not being able to shift out of the same feelings over and over again.
But here's the science-backed truth:
Your brain is designed to evolve.
It's called neuroplasticity-- the brain's natural ability to rewire itself through experience, intention, and practice.
I've grown up listening to my mom teach that the brain can change with intention and belief alone, but I didn't fully understand what that meant.
If I was upset, and she told me that I was choosing to stay angry or sad, I would get even angrier... (ha!)
What do you mean I'm choosing this? I can't change how I feel!
But that's the thing. You actually can, in a way.
When we consistently think negative thoughts, like for example, "I have to take care of everyone. No one is mindful of me," we train our brains to believe it even more. We become hypersensitive to behaviors of others that could affirm this belief and unconsciously become selective-- not noticing the behaviors that could disprove it.
And thus, a trigger is born.
Now every time someone does something that makes you feel like an unappreciated, unnoticed caretaker you become that same version of you from before.
Maybe you're forty with your own kids and spouse to care for, but you get triggered and all of a sudden, you're thirteen again taking care of your little siblings and feeling unseen.
See the issue?
But with tools like the EVOX voice analysis, and the biofeedback scans that Dr. Nikki has built and tailored to her work, you can learn how to recognize when this is happening and-- more importantly-- how to reverse it by thinking a new thought and fundamentally changing your belief.
What inspired me to touch on neuroplasticity today was actually my attempt at executing it in track practice the other day. Our coach had us try new drills like bounding and ankling. The idea is that training our nervous systems and muscles to do weird skips and exaggerated movements will actually improve our running mechanics.
As an uncoordinated freshman, I felt incredibly awkward and even embarrassed that I couldn't get it right the first time. Or the third.
But in physically challenging my body to move in ways that it hasn't before, I'm preparing my nervous system for race day.
It's the same with mental exercise too, and it's all connected. It's going to take time and repetition, but it's more than possible.
This is truly the foundation of the work Dr. Nikki does in her sessions.
In your HRD session, she'll use the principles of neuroplasticity to:
-- identify outdated patterns that no longer serve you (we don't want to be stuck obsessing over and repeating the past-- picture Dr. Nikki jumping up and down on one foot with her past folder)
-- Retrain the brain to focus on a new belief (hello markers!)
-- Establish new habits in your lifestyle and daily rhythm that support the change that you created in your session
-- Build new, empowering pathways rooted in your core values (who has God called you to be? What keeps you physically, emotionally, mentally, and spiritually healthy?)
The result? Change that sticks -- because it's happening at the level of your nervous system, not just your mindset.
Real change isn't just about willpower. It's about giving your brain a new map.
