🌀Let’s talk about circulation and how yoga benefits it!🌀
Since poor circulation plays a role in almost every disease, this week’s sequence was specifically designed to enhance the cardiovascular and lymphatic systems. The lymphatic system works with your cardiovascular system to keep blood and lymphatic fluid levels in balance and flush toxins from the body. It also carries immune cells throughout the body to help defend against infections.
The heart powers cardiovascular circulation, supplying every part of the body with oxygen and nutrients. Poor circulation not only impairs blood flow, but also unduly taxes the heart and can lead to a number of health problems.
Unlike the cardiovascular system, the lymphatic system doesn’t have a powerful organ like the heart to keep fluid flowing. Rather, the lymphatic system is stimulated by gravity, contrast hydrotherapy, muscle contraction and deep breathing.
Asanas, including an inversion or two, and breath work (pranayama) are included in this week’s practice.
Here are a few more ways to boost circulation for detoxification and immunity:
1) Drink plenty of water
2) Exercise regularly (cardio and strength training)
3) Eat healthy
4) Massage therapy
5) Manual Lymphatic Drainage therapy
6) Vibration and rebounding therapies
See you on the mat! 🌀
