PGT, or preimplantation genetic testing, is an optional genetic test that many hopeful parents elect to do during an IVF cycle.

Chromosomal abnormalities of the embryo are one of the leading causes of implantation failure with IVF as well as early miscarriage. These embryo chromosomal abnormalities happen at the time of fertilization when the DNA from both the s***m and egg do not align properly.

By testing a few cells from the embryos outer cell layer (the part of the embryo that is destined to form the placenta) PGT can determine if an embryo has the correct number of chromosomes to develop into a viable pregnancy and a healthy baby.

And, because we are transferring an embryo that we already know has a good chance of success, pregnancy rates are much higher with PGT.
