DURING JANUARY, MACON COMMUNITY HOSPITAL is offering FREE Thyroid (TSH) Blood Screenings! A TSH TEST IS A SIMPLE BLOOD TEST that checks how well your thyroid gland is working. The thyroid plays an important role in regulating energy, weight, body temperature, muscle strength, and mood. THIS TEST CAN HELP IDENTIFY whether your thyroid is overactive (hyperthyroidism) or underactive (hypothyroidism), and may detect issues even before symptoms appear. KNOWING YOUR TSH LEVELS ALLOWS you and your healthcare team to make informed decisions about your health and any next steps that may be needed. SCREENINGS ARE AVAILABLE MONDAY THROUGH FRIDAY, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., throughout the month of January.

Exciting News for Macon County! 🏥

Macon Community Hospital is proud to announce that we have been awarded $25,000 through the Tennessee Arts & Rural Health Initiative, a statewide program led by the Tennessee Arts Commission in partnership with the Tennessee Hospital Association.

This funding will allow Macon Community Hospital to work closely with the Macon County Arts Council to help initiate and expand the use of the arts within our healthcare system—creating healing, welcoming spaces that support the physical, mental, and emotional well-being of our patients, families, and staff.

Arts-based projects may include visual artwork, creative spaces, and other initiatives designed to enhance the healing environment throughout the hospital.

We are honored to be one of only 10 rural hospitals across Tennessee selected for this initiative and look forward to strengthening the connection between healthcare, the arts, and our community.
