LAFAYETTE, TENN. – Last November the Macon County Health Department launched the Ni****ne-Free Communities campaign. This initiative encourages local governments, organizations, and business owners to pledge to be a to***co-free space and take a step toward promoting a healthier community.

The Macon County Health Council met on February 17, 2026 to recognize Macon Community Hospital for signing the Ni****ne-Free Communities pledge. By taking the pledge, organizations commit to maintaining a ni****ne and to***co free space, providing education and cessation resources, and serving as leaders in creating and sustaining a wellness-focused community free of ni****ne and to***co.

“This pledge is about more than policy — it is about people,” said Matt Tuck, County Director of the Macon County Health Department. “Together, we can protect our youth, empower those ready to quit, and build a community free from the harms of ni****ne and to***co.”

Individuals are encouraged to quit or reduce their ni****ne and to***co use. Having support and a comprehensive quit plan increases the chance of success. The Tennessee To***co Quitline can help by connecting you to trained counselors who provide information, guidance, and support throughout the quitting process. Contact the Tennessee To***co Quitline for more information and to get started on your quit journey.

Call 1-800-QUIT-NOW (1-800-784-8669), text “QUIT” to 615-795-0600, or visit www.tnQuitLine.org.

For more information about the Ni****ne Free Communities Pledge or the Tennessee To***co Quitline contact your local health department.

PUT YOUR HEART FIRST! When it comes to protecting your heart health, Macon Community Hospital is here for you. In honor of Heart Month, we’re offering a Cardiac Calcium Scoring test for just $50 throughout February. This quick, noninvasive screening helps our cardiac specialists assess your potential risk for heart disease.
IF YOU HAVE RISK FACTORS FOR HEART DISEASE — including high
cholesterol, smoking, diabetes, high blood pressure, family history, or other concerns—this screening may be right for you. Using advanced CT imaging, the Cardiac Calcium Scoring test measures if and how much hardened plaque is present in your coronary arteries. The test is simple, painless, and requires no recovery time.
THIS LIFESAVING TEST is available at a special self-pay rate of $50 for the month of February only. Payment is due at the time of service, and an appointment is required. Scan the QR code below to learn more and/or call us today to schedule!

KNOWING YOUR NUMBERS CAN MAKE ALL THE DIFFERENCE. This February, Macon Community Hospital is offering a FREE Lipid Panel Test to help you better understand your cholesterol levels, including LDL, HDL, triglycerides, and total
cholesterol. This important information helps our cardiac specialists provide more informed, personalized care—and could help identify heart health risks early.
IF YOU HAVE RISK FACTORS for heart disease, such as smoking, diabetes, high blood pressure, being overweight, lack of exercise, or a family history of cholesterol
issues, lipid panel testing may be right for you. This simple blood test measures cholesterol levels that should be closely monitored to help prevent clogged arteries
and other cardiovascular concerns. DURING THE MONTH OF FEBRUARY, you can walk in Monday through Friday, 7
a.m. to 5 p.m., and request your FREE Lipid Panel Test — no appointment required. Please remember not to eat or drink anything (other than water) for at least six hours
before arriving. Stop by and take advantage of this free heart health screening today!

Leading Macon Community Hospital is more than a role — it’s a responsibility I feel deeply. In 2025, we were honored to celebrate 70 years of caring for this community, a milestone that reflects the trust generations of families have placed in this hospital.
Over the years, we’ve grown alongside Macon County, expanding services, welcoming new providers, and continuing to bring more care close to home. What matters most to me is that this hospital remains a place where people feel known, supported, and confident in their care.
As we look toward 2026, we’re excited about what’s ahead, and committed to thoughtful growth that strengthens local healthcare. This hospital exists because of this community — and serving it has always been, and will always be, our greatest purpose.
When a hospital grows from the strength, trust, and heart of its people, it becomes something truly special: a great hospital for a great community.
