Hello Myotherapy clients! Remember us?!?!
We are writing to you to let you all know that we have not forgotten about you, and to give you an update on the status of our business and plans for the future.
Like many businesses, we closed our doors on March 13th when the Governor mandated that all non-essential businesses close. And although some massage therapy businesses began working again in June and July, we have remained closed. Jennifer happens to be married to a statistician, and her father-in-law was a world renowned infectious disease doctor (who knew and worked with Dr. Fauci at times), so the science is something we take very seriously. We have been carefully following the information and hoping that things would improve enough for us to reopen sooner, but unfortunately they have really gotten more dangerous instead of less.
Myotherapy is still planning on reopening. We are fortunate in that we have been given a break on the rent, and can still pay utilities, so we are maintaining the office and will still be able to re-open when things finally get safer. We still are not sure when exactly that will be though.
COVID-19 is absolutely a dangerous virus, and it is still new enough that treatments are early in their developments. Because it is most likely to be transmitted in close contact for more than 15 minutes, massage therapy is more dangerous than we have been willing to risk. And while we value massage therapy as very important to quality of life, it is not worth dying for. But as more time passes and the treatments get more reliable, the risk will go down, and we will be able to re-open more safely.
This winter is projected to be especially dangerous, and we do not want to put any of you – or us – at risk. Even if it couldn’t be proven that we were part of spreading the virus to anyone, morally we are not willing to take that risk. Not until treatments are more universally effective.
We hope you understand.
We will continue to monitor the situation, and work on maintaining the office, and our skills. (We are all still working on our family members!) We also want to remind all of you that if you have a gift certificate or a pre-paid package; we will still honor them without an expiration date. They are also transferable to another person should you move away or otherwise be unable to use them.
A couple other things to make note of: our phone number is likely changing. We have maintained it all these months but it is our largest expense while we are closed and we are likely going to need to let it go. Please check online for a better way to reach us (or use our cell phones if you know those numbers). We also now have a Google Voice number 765-268-0693 that is sent to Jennifer and she can contact the other therapists that way as well.
Eventually this pandemic will pass and we will be safer again to practice. But there will likely be some changes we will keep in place. Face masks will likely continue to need to be worn, and hand washing will be even more important. We always cleaned between clients, but we will likely space people apart a little more than we used to. But once we feel that we can be more confident in the treatments for the disease, we will finally re-open.
Also, please let us know how you are all doing! All of us hope that you and your loved ones have stayed safe and healthy, but we also want you to know that we care about you and send strength and love for the tough times.
Best Wishes,
Myotherapy Massage Center, Inc.
