Well guys, I'm taking the steps to start doing massage again. Fully vaccinated, got an air purifier, and have ventilation set up ( fan in window). Also AC. Masks will be worn thanks to the new variant. Liability insurance reinstated. Forms printed.

My massage space is in my home, not ideal, but affordable and nice.

There will be a health intake before each session to screen for COVID risks. I'm choosing to take only vaccinated clients for now.

Cost: 1hr $80, 1.5 hr $110

I will be officially starting on September 6th. Practice sessions being offered to select clients before then. This is so I can hone my skills since I haven't done massage in over a year.

I am pretty sure I am preaching to the choir but I just wanted to touch base again. Some personal services have opened up in Colorado, including massage. I am still choosing to wait on opening my practice. My main concerns are that it is scientifically proven that being in a confined space for an extended amount of time with others who could have a contagion can lead to a higher contagion load, which could lead to a worse case of the illness. Being that there are many asymptomatic cases, screening can only do so much...Sure I would sanitize the heck out of everything and have both of us wear masks, but it still wouldn't change the exposure time ....if one of us happens to be asymptomatic.

I am concerned about other massage therapists that are choosing to practice now. I really think we need to wait on these types of long non physically distanced services that are in small spaces. I hope everyone can wait, I don't think it is worth it to risk it.

I am meanwhile working on a new idea to bring tools and skills to others that can help to bring about a relaxation response.....More to come....

So some of you may have heard that the governor wants to open up personal services. I am not clear as of now if this includes massage. Either way, I am not prepared to give massage in a pandemic, and I don't think it is smart to do this until we see how things play out for another few weeks or longer. Also I feel screening for COVID and antibody testing needs to become the norm before we start doing enclosed personal services for over an hour, and proper PPE needs to be available. For now I am receiving unemployment and pandemic assistance from my other job. So for now, I am financially ok. I hope all of you are hanging in there. I miss everyone, and I have had enough alone time for 6 months. I will let you know if anything changes. Sorry guys, but I am sure you understand.💜

Hi all, doing a check in....not every one of my clients are connected here, but I wanted to share with you a really cool Youtube channel that is inspirational and helpful in this time of uncertainty. I really love this guy, he is SO positive and happy and funny, and nerdy.... I really recommend trying to find anything you can that is positive right now, and try to not spend a lot of time watching the media or even on Facebook itself. We need lots of love and positivity now!

Hi Everyone. I know not many people see my posts but I need to let people know that I have decided that for the safety of my community I am deciding to not do massage for the time being. This has been a very difficult decision because without massage and with my other job giving out food samples being suspended, I have NO INCOME. People keep telling me I can just sanitize my room/house/bathroom and screen people for symptoms and if they have traveled. At this point, community spread is starting, and many people are symptomless. The virus can spread just by BREATH. I cannot contribute to the spread of this virus. We need to slow down the spread so that the hospitals can keep up with everything, and so that the elderly and susceptible are protected. We may get into a situation like Italy is in if people don't start taking responsibility.

Of course I don't want to get sick, but my chances are high because my husband works at Whole Foods, and my other housemate works at the central mail processing plant in Denver. Their jobs won't stop. Another reason for me to not have clients in my house too.

I beg all of you to take this situation seriously and do your BEST to not go out into public places with other people around. Practice social distancing if you must go out. Be kind to the grocery store workers, space yourselves out, don't cough and sneeze in the store....try to remain calm and sensible. DO YOUR PART. People were definitely not practicing social distancing yesterday at Whole Foods in Superior. People were NOT covering their mouths when coughing either. I did my last grocery demo, and was WATCHING everyone. Be aware of what you are doing.

Many massage therapists are trying to figure out who we can contact in the government to let them know our concerns about our business predicament. If anyone knows anything that may help, let me know.
