Earlier this week we were able to help a patient leave their bedroom without the assistance of EMS personnel and a stretcher by providing a custom rehab power wheelchair similar to this. It was awesome to see them get out of the bed and move through their house on their own for the first time in over a year and a half. The joy we could see in the patient’s face to be able to do this and to be able to go outside was such a rewarding experience.

Back in 1998, the US Advisory Commission on Consumer Protection and Quality in the Health Care Industry adopted what is familiarly known as “The Patient’s Bill of Rights.” One of your rights is to choose your medical equipment provider. Traditional Medicare gives YOU the choice but certain Medicare Advantage plans limit you to one or two national companies. We receive a lot of calls from patients wondering when they’re going to hear from that national company about that equipment they need. Are you being given the choice by your health care plan? If you’re being limited, it may not be too late to make a change.
