Feeling all the feels with the start of school. We can’t prepare for EVERYTHING but there are things we can do to ease this transition! 1) talk about it!! I hear often “if we talk about it then they’ll think about it/feel “worse” etc.” but honestly if you are thinking about something (I’m looking at you parents) they likely are too. Talk about it, ask questions, let it take up space!
2) transitional objects: a special keychain, bracelet, picture, etc can make a huge impact and remind them they are not alone, being thought of and safe
3) patience: everyone’s getting back to a routine which is so critical but initially stressful. Create a plan! Lay out what the morning will look like, set timers and remind yourself you guys are just getting the ball rolling this will get smoother!

ugh, here we go. I’ve decided to let go of my dream of my perfectly curated page (for now) and just focus on creating content. So here’s to just being my authentic self, offering up personal tidbits and some therapy tips. Stay tuned!

This weather feels soul sucking. I usually don’t mind rain but it feels like anytime I’m trying to get things done it’s raining and super frustrating. I keep telling myself this is what I actually need right now and breaks are ok. How are you getting yourself through these rainy days??? In the midst of the rain my peonies are blooming, making me smile.

All this stigma around mental health, getting a therapist, needing support, etc needs to stop. We are applauded if we go to the gym, why can't the same be for going to therapy? Mental health matters as much as physical and often impacts it! WE. CAN. TALK. ABOUT. NEEDING. WANTING. WONDERING. ABOUT. THERAPY.

Friendly reminder to make that call you have been thinking about! Your therapist wants you to reach out when you need them. We aren't mind readers (although we might have ideas!) Advice I am always giving is 'assumptions get us in trouble' so I'm not going to do that here!
